I made this post just to ask a question which probably is rarely asked on this board.
I currently have an ef and I have the money to start another project.
Should I just get another EF or step up and look for a ek or eg
I ask because our cars are getting old and every little thing takes more time to do.
For instance I was doing a suspension install and i had screws stripping, rusting!
You know the deal
it was a pain in the ***!
What should I do.
If I have the money should I step up or just stay EF
I mean EF can be had for cheap
thats my only reason for even considering another ef
any opinions?
I plan on really swapping a b series in my next car too
And how much do ek and eg weigh
i know my dx is give or take 2k lbs

You won't find a lighter generation Civic newer than 91. I
EF. You should too
They just seem like an overall superb car for anything: autoX, drag racing, etc. A great starting base that looks kickass!!

i feel that way sometimes 2, recently purch:
starter,dizzy,plugs,wires,rotor,4 hub assemblies, axles, brakes, water pump, etc etc etc.
imo, all of themoney will be worth it, i am getting a new motor, moon roof motor, carpet, seats wrapped in leather all around-once it's done it will be so PHAT. Just imagine completing everything & think how good you'd feel. or you can take the easy way & get a new car...........your choice........

Well I know that owning a 90 hatch is not the best investment when it comes to modding it. I like that a lot of the work requires more coustomization on older cars. I enjoy the challenges and the education I gain from wrenchin.
I hate to tell ya chief, but some of my boys rock eg's and ek's, and I have done suspension install's on all generations--stripping and snapping LCA bolts ALWAYS happens, Ef or not. And I guarantee that u didnt soak the bolts ovrnight in WD-40, cause that always works. People always ask for our opinions on what to do, just do what pleases YOU. All I know is I am a Ef ***** and that won't change. Even when I get married, my hatch will be sitting in my garage, waiting for weekend beating sessions.
i like the looks of the ef's...i dont care how old they are...they are perfect...they look good...they are superlight...and....ummm...they are nice hahaha...the rust is worth it IMO do what ur little
desires tho...my heart leads to my rex

The only thing that I'd consider moving my CRX (Not selling) out of the garage for would be a 97+ Civic Hatch w/ ITR swap (Wannabe American CTR). I'll always have the Rex around, once you find a rex with a nice shell dont let it leave you.
Do you like the EF? Go for it if you do. I bought an 85 mr2 off of my uncle (he owned it since 85 so it is in pretty good condition) and absolutely love it. Never, ever, ever, ever will I sell it. Although stuff brakes, lines leak, crack, starters and alternators die, brakes, etc. go bad doesn't mean it is a bad car. They are had for cheap since they are so old. I look at it as old-fashion restoration for the younger generation (me) on the cars from our child-hood. You think you have it bad? Toyota's are notorious for having bolts that just "snap" with age. Parts? Lol. I wish I could find parts for my car like I could for an EF. Anyways, if you love it (or just like it) go for it. All the hard work will pay off in the end when you finish your project (although projects are NEVER finished!)

P.S.
I love when people check out my car, makes me feel good about restoring.

i dont think it is harder to work on = if you get one NOT rusted out, it is pretty easy and the suspension rocks with minimal changes. even my ef four door is GREAT and shortly to receive a type r (ITR) transplant. SLEEPER....
Be careful when it comes to weight. EFs (EDs, actually) are not always lighter than EGs. For instance, the 1992-1995 CX is lighter than all but a few EFs. Alot of EF Civics are straddled with those dreaded door seatbelts, which add lots of weight. So if you want a light car, stick with an EF without them. No 1988 Civic or CRX has them. Also, the 1989 HF and all 1989 Civic HB and sedan models don't have them.
Yeah, it's worth it. I paid $2300 for my CRX (I got RIPPED...haha) and even though it needs some work, I have vowed to NEVER get rid of it. It's out here in CA, so I don't have to worry about rust, even though it's sitting in my driveway. And once I get a house, it's going in the garage, NO MATTER WHAT.
They'll be classics someday...just like the 240Z that my Dad's letting rust out in our backyard
would have been if he took care of it (it's rusting because it's sitting on dirt, which won't displace the moisture like concrete...my CRX will NOT suffer the same fate...).
