i have a friend with an 89 Si hatch. put a z6 head on it from a 93. running OBD-0 still. stock hatch Si ecu. has a apexi vafc. all wired, reading rpms and everything. but vtec is not engaging.? i have been searching for like 40 minutes and cannot find what i need to know.

where do the two vtec wires go to? what ecu do you all run on the obd-0 ones? vtec solioid is clicking but not coming in? any trick to get the fuel and everything correct? please help me. i did try and search, just came up short. thanks a lot guys.

 

the vafc should tell you...if you don't have the directions (doh) look for them online

you did remove the oil jet in the block right?

 

i don't know. it was a guy i was talking to at the shop today. he was standing there tring to describe what he has done. i'll ask him next time i talk ot him. he said he had it hooked up one way where vtec was always on... and with the vafc it reads vti on at 4500, and vti off at 4400. you can hear the soilinoid click, but no pull? i'll find out more detials tomorrow probably.

mainly i was just wondering if there were any hidden tricks. or if it is just hooking up the vafc. thanks

 

If the vtec soleniod is clicking then it should be working, but if he didn't remove the oiling jet from the block then vtec will not activate.
