Toda B's or CTR cams??????????
well guys i'm stuck and i can't decide which cams to get. The one that will help me most on the track or on the street. I have a b18c with jdm pistons and a 4-1 header and most of the bolt on's. I drag race the car almost every weekend but it is also a daily driver. and i've heard that the B's will cause me to lose alot of low end power but they will help me on the track. the ctr cams i hear will help me alot in the mid range but not really on the track. I just want to find out what you guys of experienced out there with these cams or similiar cams??? thanks
Make sure ALL of your parts are designed for the same powerband. From what I hear you will need more compression on Toda B's than those JDM(typer maybe?) can give you. Be prepared to spend quite a bit more on the necesary Toda valvetrain(springs, retainers) and at least a V-AFC if not a Hondata ECU to properly tune them. Michael Delaney on this board and Team-Integra has alot of experience with Toda cams and can give you a good idea of what you are in-for. I would suggest reading this article on static CR and intake cam duration relationship and others on T-I if you haven't had the chance. http://www.team-integra.net/sections...?ArticleID=472
The typer setup would be alot cheaper with just a typer ecu, ITR intake valvesprings(gsr intake springs and typer exhaust springs are the same-switch'em) and of course the cams themselves. Besides, it sounds like you already have typer pistons.
How much are you looking to spend?

Speaking of Mr. Delaney..."Spec B's need 12:1 CR minimum"-from the keyboard of Micheal Delaney.

id go w/ Toda A's. alot more user friendly and easier to tune.
but if ur on a budget get ITR/CTR (they have same exhaust cam) CTR offers only 3 deg more duration.

i'm not trying to say that money isn't an issue but i'm willing to spend the money on the proper toda parts if its gonna be a huge difference in performance when i'm on the track compared to if i use the ctr cams. my best time so far is 14.1 with the setup i have and with dead struts(which will also be changed for this years season) i already have the itr valve springs on the intake side and switched the gsr intake valve springs to the exhaust side. how much better do you think i would do on the track if i went with the toda's over the ctr????? thats the question?????????????????????????????????????????? ??
if youre interested in top end power for drag racing, go with the JUN 3s. more top end than toda B/C, and they idle like stock. make sure you get the jun valvesprings/retainers.
