72,000 miles: Should I get timing belt & water pump replaced?
Actually, I am soon getting an ACT clutch and Fidanza flywheel too. So the real question is while those two items are being installed, should I get the timing belt and water pump replaced at the same time to save time, money and a piece of mind that everything will be working fine? Also just tonight, about 1/4 of the power steering belt tore off. I am soon going to replace it in a couple of days when I have the time, but should I just leave it for now or take it off? Steering does feel fine as of now. Please help.
Replace the timing belt and water pump before 85000-90000 for sure.as far as the power steering it should be fine just make sure that its not ripping cause you dont want it to shred off and get caught in the alt belt and throw it off.

when you change the t-belt and water pump, id change the oil pump and balancer belt also. also while you in there you should put on a set of adjustable cam gears.
and just watch the ps belt like the other guy said

Just as an FYI, I don't believe doing the whole timing/balancer belt, water/oil pump deal at the same time as the clutch/flywheel will save you any money. They're at opposite sides of the engine, and won't save you on any labor by doing them simultaneously.
So unless you really pound your car hard (track time), you should be able to wait 10-15k miles before doing the timing belt fiasco. Maintenance schedule lists it at 90k miles for severe conditions, 105k for typical.
And like the others have said, keep a very close eye on that accessory belt, & change it as soon as you get a chance.

I didn't replace the timing belt and water pump on my 94gsr until 108k, even then the mechanic said I could squeeze out another 10k-12k miles.
