Default 5th Gen Automatic Trannys

Hi, i've heard that the automatic trannys on the 97-01 prelude arn't very reliable, is this true? I live in the city and a manual transmission just isn't very worth while. I know its slower and everything but I'm still looking into buying a 98 prelude w/ auto, ~70k miles. Help to answer the reliability question will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The reliability of the tranny is very questionable, and Honda has extended the warranty for the tranny to 100k miles on 00-01 Preludes (upsetting all 97-99 auto lude owners). preludeonline.com and honda-prelude.com both have quite a bit of information regarding the SS tranny, you should sign up at each site and check the info out. honda-prelude.com has an entire forum devoted to the topic.
