Hey guys i am sorry to ask but does anyone know how much it would cost to paint my car and take out a couple of small dents it is a 1993 del sol si if that helps

400 bucks for a decent job. black is probably the best color to have done at a place like macco, because honestly, they do nice flat paint jobs. problem is, the prep work sucks. but with black, you wont really notice overspray. just call some local places and get some prices.

 

$400?? That won't even cover the materials if you're using stuff like PPG.

Oh, and take it from personal experience..do NOT get black done at maaco! Their black paint NEVER comes out good. from straight on it looks alright, but when you catch it from an angle, you can see how dull it is.

$1500+ is what a REAL paint job is gonna run you.

i have had a car painted yellow at maaco, twice. both times it came out great, except for overspray. thats why i recommended them.

 

onerspray on to what?? how would champ white come out???

 

oh yeah, do you have any pictures of that yellow? and why did you get it done twice?

i painted the car twice because on my very first wheel to wheel race at a track i brushed against some fool who decided not to use his mirrors.



btw that is my beater/racecar... for now. im gonna try to sell it and put the money into my civic.

virtually every suspension component replace with hotchkis

never dynod but it probably makes 300 horse and 325 torque
when it was stock it ran 16.6 at LACR/palmdale and now it runs 13.6 both times uncorrected for altitude.

expect to pay ~$1500 plus. I work at a body shop. Reds and blues will cost more

 

don't go to Maaco.

And overspray is when paint goes where it's not supposed to. ie fender wells, exhaust, etc.

 

took a whole can of flat black paint to fix the overspray on mah yeller car i posted, but you can't notice it

 

How much would the materials cost if i did it myself and what kind of paint should i use and where should i buy it

I had my old CRX painted red at maaco, they did a REALLY good job(no overspray). I had it for about a year until i sold it and it still looked really clean. Just take a look at the cars they just had done to see the quality of the job. Cost me about $329

i will most likley take my car to maaco. I just need a re spray (Captiva Blue) and i think i will prep the car my self.

 

If you care about the appearance of your car, don't even dream of taking it to maaco. Anybody who says they do good work have obviously never seen a real paintjob. Average cost for complete paint job, including door jambs, and all prep work is around $2000. Paint costs are around $400-$800 for dupont paints. Expect to pay more for the paintjob if theres alot of dings, or deep dings and scratches.

Bumpers are $150-200 for prep, paint, and clear. I don't know how much it would be if its already prepped. Fenders should be in the $100 range. Hoods are $200 inside and out. Some shops won't do engine bays or interior at all. Most will charge an extra 2-500 more for either one. $750-1000 for both. Probably alot less if they dont have to take anything out themselves.

I do have some painting experience from about a year back and i have a lot of friends that are hella good so i think i can make do but how much paint do i need

 

macco is a family run business...everyoen macco shop has its own good qualitys...some are good...most are bad...but the black paint job that i got done 1 year ago..still looks good to me...


if you want good paint...prep the car yourself...take everything out..tow it to a autopaint job shop...then all they do is spray...preppin yourself saves money...

but if you were to paint it yourself..prob like 200 bucks or bellow..

 

how long have you had the cars that were yellow? or did you have to have them repaint it yellow? cause i know they fade.

 

it was yellow for a little more than a year before it was repainted. no fading.
