did you seize whole engine or just head? i'm removing my d16y7 head. not sure if i was gonna sell it though.

 

I'm not sure if it is just the head or what happened. I am planning to pull the engine this week/weekend and strip it down and try to find out what happened. The other problem is that I don't know too much about all this but feel confident that I can do a drop in at least. How many miles on the head? And what part of Philly? I have family down there too.... Norristown area

 

ah im close to norristown, i actually work in king of prussia but live in newtown square, head has 89,064 on it, hasn't had any miles put on it in months. my license is suspended so my cars just sitting in my parents driveway.

 

What were you doing when it seized? I cant see mine lasting much longer...

There was a small tapping/clicking in the engine. I was going to pull the valve cover and see what was up, but it has been about 5 degrees out here. There was no power loss or anything like that, so I figured it was a valve adjustment. I was on the highway, with 2 people in the car and it just shut off. I turned it back on and it sounded like a jar of bolts. I drove it a few more miles to get it over somewhere and then it died completely. Funny thing is that it only tapped at lower range of RPM's. I think it could also be the main berrings??? Or something? not sure.... Oh it has just about 80k on it too.

 

Damn that sucks, my 8valve has 85k on it w/ stock water pump&timing. Valves havnt been adjusted in over 50k mi and I just stuck a 50 shot on there. I guess I should check the valves @least... the b18c will be here shortly.

lemme see if this y8 head i bought works, installed it last night, but didnt hook it up totally yet(got pics http://home.earthlink.net/~silage/Images/Swap), just got it on last night, if it does i'll see about selling you my y7 head if you want.
