Default Unstable Steering

Hi everyone,

I have a 91 CRX HF that is now somewhat unstable ride. The alignment seems to be ok. I've just purchase some 95 GSR blades and mounted them on along with Tokiko blue and ground controls coils. Rides smooth and all but now, ever time I hit a bump, my car tends to swerve ..it doesn't matter if I'm going fast or slow. You have to have a strong grip on the steering wheel to keep it straight. Is there some kind of steering stabilizer that I need to adjust? Any Ideas?...Any help you guys can offer will be appreciated. Thanks

Also make sure one of your front sway bar end links are not broken. The added drop could have busted a rusty one......

Usually "Bump Steer" is usually caused by a toed out condition or severely toed in condition. Check the alignment using a string. Tape the string to a rear wheel/tire. pull it forward and get it as close to the front tire as possible with out hitting the body. This will give you an indication of gross toe out or toe in problems.

welcome to the world of lowered Ef's! Good luck chasing that problem cause it might take a while and cost a bit(i.e. replacing worn susp. parts.)

HAHA...Unstable steering..welcome to hell...haha how to you like your ef now?

I been working on this problem for 2 years after I lowerd my car...only 1.5Front and 1 Rear.
I feel like I need to alighn the car every weekend. I could use some new tie rods. But.... I pray for the day when I find the right set up..and the CRX rides like a Lincoln! Good luck.

Holy crap this has to be the hundreth post on this same topic in the last few weeks. it must be the cold weather making all the ef suspension components crap out.

Try a search man there is tons of post. I was going to pull up a few but there are two pages and I'm to lazy to sort through all of them. Good luck.

you dont need to spent all that dough for a new rack, just go get new inner/outer rod ends along with new boots and new bushings--what I did and now it's tiiite yO.

his problem is that he modified his suspension and thought he didnt need an alignment.. you cant tell with the naked eye if your alignment is off. unless its really bad.

but if you went from 13s to 15s then got some new shocks and GC Coils then you need and alignment.. also it can also be since your car is old once you remove and modify certain suspension parts there are knocked out of there usual worn groove, you didnt know that your bushing and etc needed replacing cause you were used to them already and they had settle into your suspension.. same happened to me my car drove perfect til i changed my rear Xmember. i found L-R outter tie rod ends, L-R lower ball joints, L upper ball joints needed to be replaced,my reaction was like WTF?? oh i need some serious camber and alignment adjustments done.

just some thought from last weeks hell.
