Default 165,000 miles to high on a free LS swap?

I'm getting a free LS swap. Its just that the motor
has 165,000 miles on it. I would say Puck it, but
this is my car I drive daily. The single head motor
I have right now is fine. What do you all think.
The guy thats going to build it said his main concern
about the motor is that it didn't smoke. He tested it and
it was all good. Next he's going to do a compression test.

What do you all think?

Hard to turn down a free motor, espically a B-Series

EDIT - doh!

I think its obvious he means "Hard to turn down a free motor"

I really dont know man, have a leakdown and compression test done on this ls motor by a competant mechanic or do it yourself and decide from there.

well, a free motor is better then no motor. I say take it and when you have time or money decide where to go at that point. But i wouldn't just go putting it in your car right away. Remember, you will need a tranny as well as a ECU. But indeed take it if you can store it somewhere. This is a good time to just sit on it and wait until you either need it, need to sell it to make some cash, or decide what your grand plan is.

since it's free i would take it apart and build it up before swaping it into the car. you can make some good power from that engine with the right parts.......
