cold air bypass valve..does it really worK?
i'm thinking about buying an intake for my gsr in my eg..i wanna go w/ the cold air but i dont know anyone that's actually used the bypass valve so i dont really know if it works..so..any of u that's used it..does it work/

Well, according to where you are located, you are more than likely going to need it as some point in time.....and even if you arent driving around in pools of water, why risk it!? its better to be safe than sorry, unless of course you have money to throw around on a new engine.....

they don't work. The bypass valve basically defeats the purpose of having a CAI. Don't bother. Go short ram if you don't have the guts to use a CAI. Honestly, the bypass valve is worthless.

i dont understand how a byp *** valve works, when ur filter is completey submerged, then the engine sucks air through the by pass valve instaed? so that it has an alternative route of receiving air, rather then sucking up the water
am i right?

go with the new AEM V2, be hearin alot of cool **** about these things. i used to carry a flat head with me so when it started to rain i would pull up to a gas station and take off the cold air part and reattach the filter in the engine compartment
get a little wet
save your motor and 50 bucks

my friend had an aem cai with a bypass valve. he said he felt a decrease in power with it... but i would think it works. i saw a test on super street or sport compact car .... they had the ***** to try it on an nsx!!!

You are 100% correct! Then, when the filter is un-submerged, the bypass valve closes and you end up sucking water into your engine anyway; the water that is 'standing' inside the intake tube.

anyways..thanx for all the feedback..for the most part i guess i'm gettin the impression that it does work but it's still a risk..b/c where i live..i have been submerged in at least 2 ft of water at one point and my stock motor blew b/c of no bypass valve
has anyone or has anyone heard a RELIABLE story where someone had a bypass valve and the motor still went when submerged in water?
