sorry but i find this quite humorous. i say go to Honda and get a printout of the mirrors and trial and error it to see what can be done...good luck though...those cost $$!

You can try putting one of those round convex mirror on one corner for better visibility. I have to admit, this is one reason why I didnt opt for the jdm folding mirrors. Good luck to you all anyway.

If you were to remove the mirror glass you could put a shim on one side to make the angle bigger to see around the car.

If you take it apart you might be able to modify the mounts for the mirror motor piece, cutting and gluing the mounts in a different place. Ive had one apart, it looks do-able.

Unfortunately thats the problem with RHD parts on LHD cars, but you know that...

go talk to a glass place, I'm would think you can get convex mirror glass cut for it, may be a little awkward to look at, but would solver the problem. Would stock USDM glass not fit in the housing?

There was a thread with a link to a site on how to fix this once. I don't have that link though.

However the idea was to swap out the housings so you have the USDM housing with all the JDM insides. In my Helms it says there is a screw under the mirrors and you remove that than gently pry the glass off to open it up.

Yup! I've checked the Helms and the USDM mirror could be disassembled. The JDM however doesn't have that hole where you could poke to undo the mirror. Anyone here have disassembled a JDM mirror? I the same question and what I have gotten so far was to just pry the JDM mirror like it was a manual mirror. I just wanted to confirm that with another person before I end up destroying mine. Thanks!

i could see down the side of my car "ok" with a test fit of my mirrors.. its not where i want it to be, but its doable. this was the passender mirror of mine.

The drivers mirror on the other hand.. i can't see for jack.. BTW the driver and passengers i am referring to are based on USDM car.

my brother was looking at them.. he got them apart.. and the motors move the same amount on both driver and passenger. both mirrors are magnifiers.. so i cant see jack out of my driver mirror.. my dad is going to talk to one of his glass guys and see about getting a flat mirror cut for me to fit on the drivers side.

but you guys cant see out of the passenger mirror? im just trying to figure out why i can see ok out of mine

i haven't done this with mine yet, but i remember speaking to a friend of mine and having him say that the 89 accord gen have the same shape mirrors. take the mirror lens itself from the sideviews and swap them with our power folding, and it should work fine.

i'll have to try this soon...

Unfortunately it is impossible to swap housings ie USDM housing/JDM insides. I was able to disassemble both and there are major differences.

As shown, the JDM(Red) mounting has a larger hole and the bolt pattern is different. The JDM mechanism will not fit the USDM base.

Swapping Mirrors is impossible as well. The USDM's base has a like a metal tab that goes all the way through the electric motor (see Helms manual). The JDM one is flat.

Some here has also suggested using shims to move the motor towards the outside. Well there are two places to shim. (1) is the whole motor assembly base which can not be done because by doing so, the motor that operates the folding of the mirrors will not settle in its location properly. (2) the other option is using shims on the motor for the mirror. that too is not do-able because it is made like a glove where there a raised areas that fit exactly to the whole assemble. I could see it may work it is was really ghettoed out but that is not a sure thing.

This is sad. I've ran out of options. I will be using the "blind spot" convex mirror but that is not enough for the driverside.

Tempting! I'll then be having problems with hurting my right arm when I keep slamming it to the door cause the shifter will be on the left.

Yup! I was doing a search and your post was the only one that addressed this issue. Your post was back in February, so have you been driving with f@#ked up mirrors all this time?

Just curious, on the JDM mirrors are the left side (US driver) mirrors convex?
