should i get Koni shocks??
hi i dropped my lude on eibach pro springs about a yeer ago ive been told to get shocks as well,, ive also been told to forget the springs and just get skunk2coilovers??? i reall dont know what to do... im not trying to slam my prelude, i just like it with a little drop and a smooth bouncy ride.
Well, if you want to slam it I say get the coilovers. Ground Control or Skunk2's are good. Yeah, get the Koni Yellow shocks if you can too.
Are you looking for show or to get better handling out of your car??

no way i dont want to slam it,,, i just want a nice smooth ride, why does everyone have coilovers?? should i get em ??? ive been told eibachs are week
With lowering springs....they will lower your car a set amount. With coilovers...you can adjust the height. Coilovers is the way to go.
i wouldn't get coilovers unless you intend to compete with your suspension. IMO springs are better for daily driving.
You can't go wrong with Koni yellows and H&R sports

Well, the reason why I recommend coilover si because most people aren't completely satisfied with the drop on the springs they order.
I suggest paying a little more and get th coilovers so that you can chnage them if you don't like the drop.

but do i have to get shocks is all im wonderin>?

Hey, i was in the same boat as you, but as of this past saturday, i put in Koni Sport Shocks (aka koni yellows), on ground control coilovers. The ground controls come with Eibach springs, however my spring rates are 25 pounds more, to get that stiffer ride...
GET SHOCKS TOO... and get COILOVERs... like that guy who posted above me said, "people who get springs are always satisfied with their drop" so i suggest getting skunk2 coilovers or ground control coilovers WITH shocks, go to http://www.preludeparts.com there is a good selection of parts there for decent price.
btw, who said to you that eibach springs suck??? they are the ****!!
hope i was helpful...

Most people just trying to "drop it a bit" complain about a coil over's ride; it has a much stiffer spring rate than most springs. Ground Control's will let you order custom spring rates, so it's not really a problem w/ them. For the money, I don't think you can beat Neuspeed/Eibach springs w/ KYB AGX shocks.
Dropped mine on Neuspeed SPort springs AND Koni "yellow" shocks-looks terrific, rides great, and for those that wonder it handles great during HPDE events. The Prokit springs are OK but are not quite as firm as the Sport ones I have. As for Coiover sleeves-forget them for your purpose. You said you don't want a lot of drop and are not looking for a "race" type of ride-they will do both-I know with 2 race car setups how firm they are compared to 'sport type' springs.
The stance of my car is also really nice-just a clean drop.
Definitely-before taking the suspension apart again, get the Koni shocks-you won't regret it. BTW: Get an alignment-you will want to consider the effect of any drop over 1" on tire wear. The Prokit and Sport Springs both changed my 5th gen Camber just enough to require correction kits.
Good Luck and enjoy the ride

coilovers are for race use mostly. they are very very stiff. i think the way to go is spring/shocks setup, IMO you get the best performance form them. you wont get a nice SMOOTH ride, it will be very stiff with coilovers. i recommend getting progress sport springs, they have a progressive spring rate, which makes it handle better and make the ride better for daily drving
i just like it with a little drop and a smooth bouncy ride.
i'm going to go with kyb agx though, b/c they are cheaper.
what about scraping front and exhaust on bumps, ect...
I was going to get eibach because I don't want to scrape, or take the long way around speed bumps. For those who have Neuspeeds(1.5 and 1.7) or more on a 4th gen, do you have these problems

nope, i have neuspeed sports and I think they are the best drop; they give a very comfortable ride, while being stiffer than stock and being noticeably lower. This is about the perfect spring for a daily-driven car.
I said this on another post, but i have ground control coilovers with tokico illuminas(5 way adjustable). You can make the ride stiffer or softer depending on if you have a date or a day at the track. The illuminas should fit, but cost a little more. If you want good shocks, then i would reccomend the tokicos. Check around for pricing. Check this site out for a decent price. This is where i bought mine from. http://www.inlinefour.com.
tell me, when GC are set to max what is the ride hight compared to stock.
what spring rates (i don't know much about it) should i get for street/race with ilumina's?

You are dead wrong about the Eibach or Neuspeed springs not fitting on a BASE. Koni-does NOT recommend the use of their shocks on an SH-true. The H&R springs are nearly identical to the Neuspeed, btw.
Remember folks-the SH front suspension is quite different on both sides from the BASE. This is where a lot of the issues about spring/shock packages comes from. You can use a Ground Control/Koni setup on an SH, btw.
Another thing-for those doing a specific setup--you should call Ground COntrol or Skunk2 like I did and get their expert advice. They have tested their setups and know what really works. Both my Civic and CRX are on Skunk sleeves with custom selected spring rates. Each car serves a different purpose-so the rates are not the same as they might be for someone else. The Prelude is on 'sport' springs because I use it as a road/HPDE car. Get the idea.
Happy Luding everyone

yeah there is not a shock out for the sh prelude because the spring perch sits higher then the base so there for coilovers sounds like the way to go! I have bilstein sp shocks and neuspeed sports..its a nice drop but it doesnt ride all that good! Id like to get some suggestions on what other sh ludes have and how the ride is?
ok since were on the subject of shock's and spring's i wanted to ask. what should i get for a better and smoother ride. i have a 5 gen 2001 base model prelude. i dont really want to lower it. just get the ride to be smoother and feel better on the road. where i live their are mad pot holes and cracks in the ground and their making me mad. also if i did want to lower the car how far can i lower it so i don't have to get a new camber kit? i want to use my stock camber's. Also what should i get if i wanted to lower it. i was thinking kyb with skunk 2 coilovers. or kyb and just springs?? Thanks you guy's in advance for helping me with my questions.
