he had no clutch fluid. so i flipped out and he said ya it was action odd. so i drained and and filled it bleed it out. the pedal wont come off teh floor even after all teh bledding. you could still drive it so i thought maybe we need toi drive it, an dthen we couldnt get it in to gear. no way to release it. any ideas? master cly. toast maybe

check the master cylinder for leaks inside and check the slave cylinder that its properly positioned..

 

i dont think its that i think they are bad or good there isnt any leaks. caus ethen we would still get air when bleeding an dthere was none

 

have you tried to lift the pedal off the floor? just curious.

 

yes we did and then whenn you push it donw it wont coem back up

 

lol, when you bleed it, you have to push and pull a few times before it builds up enough pressure to withstand the resistance of the pedal. If it still does it after bleeding properly, then there may be a leak in the line/mastercylinder etc...

edit: something caused him to go through his fluid.. looks for leaks..

actually one time while driving my clutch pedal sank to the floor.... and stayed there.... i popped the hood and checked for clutch fluid, it had.... and then i turned off the car.... turned it back on.... and pushed up the pedal and it was fine. i got so freakin scared!! and... i have to add clutch fluid every so often, it leaks somewhere... to lazy to look for the leak.....

 

my friend had this problem with his accord. he had to get a new master cylinder. i think you might have to too.

 

hey when i did mine kevin it had the same problem...i just kept adding fluid...and then it eventually worked...dont know why tho...but it went to the floor and sat there for like 10 mins until i pumped it with my hand about 30 times...kinda weird but it worked...sometimes it still acts up. But just keep trying to pump it...dunno what else to tell ya

 

Maybe a line burst. That would be neat.

 

do the free stuff first..id pump the pedal plenty of times to try to displace the air with fluid..that dont work start looking for that leak..most likely a bad seal..then of course the MC may need replacing

 

seals in slave cylinder may have gone bad. leak is not always visible. i've had this happen before. replacement is quick and simple. and then dont forget to bleed. good luck

 

after you bled it did you tighten the bleeder valve back up on the slave cylinder?? not tryin to make you feel stupid or anything i just said it cuz i didnt see anyone else say it... and that would cause that

 

Ok think about this:

~You loosen the but and bleed the fluid.
~Meanwhile, you left the peddle down.
~Then you tighten the nut.
~Now you can't get it off the floor because it's SEALED!

What you need to do, is loosen the nut and pull the peddle back up. Now put some more fluid in the cylinder cup, and push that air out of the lines while the nut is loose. (Loose, not off.) Keep the fluid in the cap full though, don't let it push air through the lines. When you're satistfied with the amount of fluid you've bled, pull the peddle up, and re-tighten the nut. Make sure the cap is full too.

If you did everything right, then this may have been caused because you have a leak in the line. (which is common)

 

we used a vaccum pump to bleed it.
so there was no chance of error.

 

Yes.. you have to pump the clutch pedal.. have someone outside looking at the master cylinder.. it should drain fluid everytime you do it.. when it gets low have the other person add more fluid.. The person pumping the pedal will notice that it gets HELLA hard to push it down eventually.. Do this until no more fluid is draining when he pumps the pedal.

Edit: And yes.. you will have to lift the pedal off the floor with your hand each time you pump it until it starts to come back up on its own.

The clutch master cylinder is more then likely done. I had this problem a few years ago in my 5gen. I was taking the car out of gear then noticed the clutch pedal stuck to the floor. I had played with it a bit on the drive to a relative's. I would end up having to put my foot under the pedal after it got stuck down. I parked it for the weekend and cameback to find it would not go into gear when I started it. Worried I let it sit for a hour or so, after coming back it went into gear again to my surprise. The next day I took it in to be replaced and it was the clutch master cylinder that had gone bad. At the time I wasn't doing any of my own car repairs and believe it was in the $220-275 range to have replaced.

Exact same symptoms as your friend's car, I say this is more then likely the issue.

 

my friends accord had the same symptoms over christmas, pedal to the floor, won't go in gear. His master cylinder and slaver were shot.
