just bought '88 civic hatch, the underhood label is missing!
which means i don't have any specific information in regard to where to correctly set the timing, what the spark plug gaps should be, etc etc. useful stuff, no doubt. does anyone have an identical car or know where i can find this info online?
it's a 1988 civic hatch 4-speed (manual) with the D15B1 1.5L, 16V, 70HP engine.
thanks

none of the local junkyards have an '88 OR one of the 4-speeds; i always run into the DX models with the 92 HP engine.
but, yeah, i just need the information specific to my vehicle so i know i'm tuning it as well as it can be done

why do you want to adjust timing on the stock motor? unless it's running crappy or it's failing smog then leave it alone. as far as plug gap, just buy some that are pre-gapped. you tell autozone/checker/pep boy's what kind of car you have and what motor, and they'll sell them to you already gapped to what they need to be.
i just bought the car for $100 and it runs fine. however, it has 150,000 miles on it. i replaced the plugs, which hadn't been replaced in FOREVER, with platinum plugs that came pre-gapped to .40...i have no way of knowing if this is correct, since my old '88 crx (different engine) called for .44, and i'm inclined to trust honda's underhood label over the guy who works the counter at advance auto parts.
as far as adjusting the timing, i'm of the impression that it should be done periodically, especially after changing spark plugs, to ensure best performance. i'd at least like to check it to make sure it's in spec. if it's right where it should be, no harm/no foul; if not, then it's a good thing i popped my head in there.
