Default Need a good hi-flow but quiet exhaust

Anyone have a recomendation for a good SS cat back exhasust system which is not too loud? Also I don't want to lose any ground clearance, so if ya know of any cat back system that hang low plase let me know, so I can stay away from them.

Thanks!

Apexi WS doesn't flow particularly well, it is not straight through, but yes it is as quiet as they come.

The Tanabe Hyper Medallion and Greddy SP are some of the quieter straight-through muffler systems. The SP is VERY deep, but really not THAT loud.

I was also told to say away from apexi WS for it hangs too low rubs ground on a lowered honda. Looks like I might just have to go with mugen, darn thing cost so much though

You will not find an exhaust quieter than stock, your best bet would be Mugen. Very pricey but the header and exhaust combo is great. Probably one of the most quiet exhausts you'll ever find or hear. You can also go to http://forums.listentomyexhaust.com/ they have people who post their exhaust sounds on there. [URL]

Guys, I hope to have some new custom resonators in this week. There was a problem at the coaters. I'm not sure if I'll be trying these out on a Prelude or ITR first. They should be very light and are repackable if need be. But the manufacturer says he has some that have been running on Sprint car (lots of abuse) for 3 years without repacking. The nice thing about these is I can get them in almost any length. My first exhaust/and production header looks like ot will be on a 5th gen.

I have a better clip of the Mugen exhaust than the 2 there, I need to upload it though, maybe tomorrow.

It's not exactly what I would classify as quiet, it's just that the exhaust note is not as annoying as people are used to hearing coming out of the back of a lot of Hondas. Yeah, it's high as hell, and people knock the price a lot, but I think it's worth every penny IMHO.

I have pics pre/post install if you want to see 'em.

I'm actually told by a seller of Tanabe that the Hyper Medalion is not straight through.

Best ground clearance/ low sound is Greddy Evo. in my 01 prelude after vtec kicks in, u can't hear anything but the VTEC! but the most sound supression comes from getting good headers too....

Spend the money... MUGEN... You can't get a higher quality header and exhaust in my opinion! The sound is not annoying and the ground clearance is not an issue.

Just looked at your signature... You've already got the header, now get the cat-back! I need to get it too. You first, after me!!!

Off the shelf for a 5th gen-THERMAL. Been running mine for over 2 years and no complaints. The fit and finish are terrific. Install is perfect as well. It is a bit louder in the cabin than stock, but otherwise just fine.

I would suggest apexi ws, I was pretty doubtful too, but I'm thinking of switching after seeing some very good dyno numbers from ws owners on ludes. they may not give the highest peak power at 7,000rpm, but will give better power through the entire range.

I was also looking at apexi japan sites and they call the ws the Hybrid turbo exhuast. They have a cutaway of it and it's not a true trubo muffler that loops around. It seems to be straight through, but with a chamber/baffle in it.

I currently have a Thermal muffler with custom pipe and it's just too loud. It was cool back in the day, but now that I'm older and drive 20 miles each way to work it is very annoying. I will miss dual tips though. imo, the mugen is way too $$ for what you get.

Interesting...do you have any links to these dynos? Also I wouldn't mind reading about what apexi japan says about the WS. Thanks.

I would suggest DC Sports Tanabe Super HYPER medallion, or Thermal. Notice he's asking for a SS system, which boots several names off the list immediately. IMO the s-hyper medallion is the best sounding of the 3(not too loud, not droning while cruising on the hwy, etc..) however its isn't straight-thru like Joon mentioned.

Of course there is Mugen if u've got the $$$$$$$$.

http://preludeonline.com/showthread....exi+ws+exhaust

here's a link i found, one of the posters dynoed 5hp more than his buddy his buddy with an evo.

i don't think the hyper is full SS unless that's what the super hyper medallion is the regular one isn't, the tip is kinda wierd looking, and i hear it is loud. i would like to find out more though cause i found one for 399 shipped or it's a apexi ws.

I disagree, but I'm a Mugen ***** so maybe I'm just biased. Cash or no, I'm really happy with what I got for my money.

Bingo, give that man a prize! The fit, finish, quality of the build/welds are incredible, and nothing else sounds like it, IMO. Anyway, take a look (and a listen if you get a chance to) and judge for yourself. There are some pics of mine here: www.geocities.com/h22pwr.
Where can you buy said mugen exhaust and header?
You can get them at: www.kingmotorsports.com or www.ipsracing.com . They're the only 2 places that I know of that are officially authorized to sell them.

I have the Tanabe Hyper Super Medallion, adn it's VERY quiet. I can't hear it, all I hear is my motor! It's nice though, if I had pics I would show you.
