My racing ITR mods
I am living in Belgium , I 've stated racing last year , Belgian Touring Championship. 2 hour and 4 hour races. Here is the cars set up: Full SS Spoon exhaust , MUGEN ECU , EXEDY light flywheel , Modified stock airbox with cold air intake , shorter 4&5th gears (cheap mod) . 4-pot front brake callipers with 300mmx28 groved discs . Next mods I am planing are : JC Edlebrock intake manifold , SPOON venturi plate , 70mm STR throttle body . Doue any one tried one of thier parts ?
I'dlike to install the JDM Intake Camshaft , or should I go for the SKUNK2 camshafts stage I or II ?
Please help
Thanks

Sorry for the bad writing.
I wanted to know if anyone has tested the JC Edlebrock intake manifold , JDM civic type r intake camshaft , Skunk2 cams , the Spoon venturi plate ?
Can I use the Skunk2 stage II cams with the Mugen ECU (Vtech point 4800 rpm) ?
Thanks
Douglas

Use the Stock ITR intake manifold. Civic Type R cams are a waste of money, really wont do much. the spoon venturi plate has also been proven not to do much on ITR motors. The Skunk cams seem to have good results, but use a tunable ECU like hondata instead of the Mugen ECU.

thanks for the reply,
I think if JC Edlebrock makes something , that it should work .
I also bought the STR 70mm throttle body to install in the Intake manifold with the venturiplate .
Now I am also planning to instann the SKUNK2 stage II cams. I think all this parts together should give my ITR a power gains .
Will my MUGEN ECU work with the SKUNK camshafts ?
Thanks

Alright well the stock t/b and intake manifold are fine for your tasks. The STR t/b and JG manifold are for top end gains and mainly forced induction and drag racing. I believe you will sacrifice midrange and lowend with those two pieces. The spoon venturi plate has also been proven uneffective on the 1.8L motors. So again I believe this is a waste. CTR cam debateable whether worth the money or not. Skunk2 1's would give a you a nice noticable gain. If you go with the 1's or 2's they are made to be tuned by stand alone. The mugen ECU is made to run a relativley stock car. i.e. basic bolt on's. It will run the car obviously, but how well is questionable. You would probably be better with stock ecu and a VAFC or what you should do is a Hondata or some other type tunable system. Lastly have you looked into the limitations of your league? Hopefully you have. If not check that before you go spending any money. Good luck.

Get a stand alone or OBD1 jumper with a chiped ECU and VAFC
What everyone else said about the JG Edelbrock intake, and if you want to read up on it, a review was done in an issue of Turbo a bit back, I'll try to find out which issue. Dyno'd and all, as everyone said, there was power loss in the low and midrange, but definite gains in the highrange.

Throttle Body - The 70mm Throttle Body is not needed, it is much too large for a semi-stock vehicle, again I have seen losses with the use of this throttle body.
Venturi plate - designed for the B16 engine, shows little to no gain, chances are that you will lose power.
Skunk2 stage II cams - Without additional compression, I would not recommend these cams, chances are you will have little to no gain from them, The Skunk2 stage I cams would be much better suited to your mildly built engine.
With the full Spoon Exhaust...are you also running the Spoon header, or are you still running the stock header. If you are still running a stock header I would highly recommend that you purchase a header designed for your application.
If you are running 2-4 hour races I would highly recommend that you purchase a spoon, or mugen thermostat, as well as installing an external oil cooler.
What are the limitations that you have on your vehicle for the series that you are running?
This is all that comes to mind at the moment...

otherwise its crap for an NA motor.

Since you are in Europe, Hondata is not available, but that`s not the point.
Because of high taxes and shipping costs we have to pay, we use to build our own raceparts. Some things we don`t have in Euro compared to US, some things they don`t but we do.
If you like to do some serious mods to your car, don`t mess around by throwing in parts... I can help you, if you like.
You don`t need a cam upgrade to build a fast track car. As long as you don`t get 300hp out of it, it makes more sense to get a good breathing stock engine and perfect balance, stiffness, weight reduction and suspension work
This is our racecar from last year:

Racecar 2003 is a CTR EP3 which will be ready in March.
I had been on track with a cam-upgraded ITR (190whp) last year. I had been a little faster on the straight but I never had a chance to stand a stock-motored ITR like the one above through a whole lap.

Disregard the Spoon ventuli plate cuz it only improves torque and power during 1000-4000rpm and no gains up top.
With your Mugen ECU, Spoon or CTR cams will be your best bet. Or if you want more aggressive cams I will say JUN 3 package which you have to replace valvetrain and ECU as well.
