Rota's for Track Wheels??
how many of you are using rota wheels for track wheels, say with a set of falken azenis on them...have you had any specific problems with them? do you feel comfortable pushing your car to the edge with them on? just wondering because i have heard of a couple of instances of them having problems and even breaking as proved by the wrx that broke one....any input that you can offer would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I used my C8's with Azenis last summer to auto-x on, and had no problems with them at all.
I'm going to try some HPDE's and track attack type events with them on the GSR this summer, so we'll see what happens.
I think the WRX incident was just a random freak thing, and I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure to check your wheels before and after every event, but we should all really do this no matter what kind of wheels we're running.

Yeah that is what i kind of figured...i would say the majority of people that run them have no problems and like anything else there are going to be 2-3 bad expriences with them....also, do you think the fact that integra's and civic's weigh a lot less than a WRX contributed with the success honda owners have had as opposed to the wheel breaking on the WRX? just wondering this in particular because i plan on running them on a h22 4 door accord which weighs considerably more than an integra or civic

Oh lord..not another Rota worry wart. One seed does not make a bad apple. I know plenty of people who have used Rota wheels at track events, including myself, and had no problems with them. Any wheel can fail, not just a Rota. Weight, and the fact that he had AWD probably had something to do with it. We also don't know how he drive on a daily basis.
rota worry wart?? i am just asking legitimate questions that pertain to my safety at a high speed track event...i am sure there are many more people than just me who have had this question cross their mind in the past couple of weeks...i figured i would just start a post about it to see if any had any particular experiences or insight..

Rota is ISO approved (i think that is what it is called). They aren't some backyard company trying to make a little extra cash. Their wheels are certified. Any and all wheels can have problems from a bad batch or simply from not inspecting them before/after runs and or events. I myself inspect the wheels all the time throughout racing (when i clean brake dust off). If i see any type of crack then the wheels come off.
BTW, i use Rota Subzero 15 inch along with A032R tires. Combo works awesome for me thus far

I have been racing the Rota Slipstreams with Falken Azenis. Racing Auto X that is. I have been very happy with the set up. For the price you can not go wrong.

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who didn't catch that one.

does rota use the same slips/c8's for their race cars that they sell for retail? if they do, what's to worry? just check the condition and consider it reg maintence.
I just bought a set of Rotas for my R and I have no fear or worries about them.
besides if they brake (other then the danger) they are cheap enough to brake once in a while

Rotas here with r-compounds before, now street tires. curbed, all banged up, etc. works fine for me still
-Dave, who is a firm supporter of rotas because of their price, weight and decent quality.

I originally bought my rotas as track wheels to combine with ao32s, but I ended up using them as my daily wheels with azenis, and mounted the 032s on the stockers.
I would see no problem in using them for the track though.....that was just a freak accident (WRX incident). I would definitely check the wheels as often as possible though

i have a set of rotas with azenis and i use them for both track days and autox. i have not had any problems with them whatsoever and i don't feel uncomfortable pushing the car with them on. i think inspecting your wheels is paramount regardless of what wheel you're running, volk or rota, and you should be good to go.
