Default Easy to remove clear housing on headlights?

How hard is it to remove the glass/plastic housing on headlights, the reason i ask is because i really love the way jdm projector headlights look with the black housing
I wanted to see how hard it would be to remove the housing on the crx projector headlights, then with it off i could spray paint the housing black just like jdm headlight. I would also do the corner light but i have taken off the housing on those and its pretty hard to take off, it comes glued together by some type of caulking type glue.

Does anyone know what the easiest way to remove the glue and separate the housing? How much paint do the jdm headlights have in them? It seems as though the projection circle is all sorrounded by black but the regular light still has some reflective chrome around it by maybe 1/2 an inch.

Is my idea viable? how you guys think itll look? phat or ugly? Has anyone ever done this?
