actually you can change the miles. you can put your DX odometer into the EK (or WX) cluster.

and it is plug and play for both EG's and EK's. Like an 92-95 EX cluster will fit into a 92-95 DX, and a 96-00 EX cluster will fit into a 96-00 DX, correcto?

we put my 92 SI cluster into my friends 94 dx, so you should be good. just be careful not to break the clips on the cluster. that sucks.
to doing things when you don't know what you are doing.

so a 96-00 EX cluster should fit a 2000 cx too right?

Yep...take out the odometer and swap them b/t the different cars. It's four screws on the back.

Hey bud I did it myself and I'm polish. First you take the two bezel screws up at the top out. That sleeve type thing pops right out. Then unscrew the bottom corners. Make sure you don't drop the screws in the car. Pull the cluster and unplug the three wires in the back. Take your ex cluster and plug the three wires into that one. Turn on the car and make sure all the gauges work tach, speedo and the gas with temp. I did this myself and the place I bought from gave me a cluster with a bad temp gauge. Since I took the cluster apart to put in my speedo they said it was my fault and there goes 100 bucks. Know I have a tach, my speedo and the gas gauge but no temp. I'm gonna switch back to my old one now and put a over size tach on my a-pillar probably. Overall very easy swap and should take no more then a half hour. Oh yeah this was for a 96 cx hatch.
