Default jim fab traction bar for honda/acura.

here is a pic of my new traction bar for my 2000 EK. as you can see. the main bar is very beefy with two connecting rods to the front lower control arms... all of it is well constructed and very clean looking.

i will post results and feedback in the near future. for more information: www.jimfab.com " replacement cross member is made from 4130 chromoly tubing and oversized steel brackets. This unit helps to lessen the harsh shuttering that the Civic, CRX, and Integras receive when under hard acceleration or high speed turns. This unit will also help to improve 60 foot times, not to mention the generous amounts of room it leaves for 4 to 1 headers or turbo kits. You will not find a better built part!!! This cross member uses high quality oversized Teflon lined rod ends, CNC machined parts for the radius rods and end cups, you will be impressed. The CRX cross member will work with a B-series swap."

Looks nice AL, but what made you go with this unit over the Z10 bar?

That thing looks pretty damn beefy.

yeah. i've seen pics of the z10 bar installed onto civics and it doesn't look nearly as beefy as the jimfab bar i just got. you also notice that the connecting rods mount to two points on the LCA as opposed to one bolt from the z10. PLUS the jim fab bar is much cheaper.

here's a pic of the z10 bar. you make your judgement: $675 w/cro-moly ends??? oh my!!

for your comparison here's my jimfab.com bar: $250

yeah, the jimfab does look alot beefier and better than the Z10. I think you made a wise choice Albert. I think SackDz has some motor mounts from Jimfab.

thats looks pretty beefy...but..

i cant verify this or not but from what i can see that thing is not going to work all that well.....
i made my own in a chassis fabrication i took and found out some very interesting things...
first the mounting point for the rod lengths on the crossmember has got to be inline with the control arm mounting points or its going to bind up. I cant be for sure on if those are or not but they dont look like they are in the right place. I also do understand im sure these people did some testing before marketing that thing...
They dont bind that much at all actually. i measured the affective length change by compressing my suspension from ride height to fully extended and the effective length change was only like .5" Not a whole lot but enough to bind up...
Another thing i wish i would have done is Made a bracket in the middle of the bar to firmly attach it to the radiator support so that it would not move back and forth. but unless they machined the holes on the mounting brackets perfectly it wont be a problem... i think the z10 bars have that bracket
Just my thoughts... not trying to diss that thing at all.
i'll post a pic of mine up later

the guy that posts on this board who worked for Z10 and made those bars (cant remember name right now), actually posted awhile ago and said that the jimfab ones were much better. this is because the Z10 bars bolt to the LCA where the shock bolts up. This is not in line with the natural arc that the suspension takes in its movements. However, the jimfab bars place the end of the tension rods directly inline with this arc. this eliminates the binding that he said the Z10 can get. this is what i remember of the post anyways. i would take it as pretty string testimony when someone who designed the Z10 bars says that the jimfabs are batter. let us know how it works out.

get the jimfab traction bars.
i designed the z10 bars years ago when i started z10 before i left, and the design is all screwed up. if you really care, do a search i went into detail on it once.

http://www.jimfab.com is the ticket

yeah.. i was expecting to receive a bar that was unpainted and "raw" just like the pics on his site. but it came with a beautiful black glossy powdercoated(?) finish that gleamed. i think jim had lowered the price since the site was created. i've talked to jim extensively about the possiblity of binding but he assured me with his word that he's raced his civic in SSclass autocross with no problems at all.

you'll notice from this pic that the rod connects to the lower control arm on the inner two bolts. not the drop fork from the strut. inline? i'll have to install it to see for myself. regardless, i'm sure it's going to help with my straightline performance for sure. leave your competition hopping at the line and get these bars!!!

*mods, feel free to move this to a suspension or tech related forum. i didn't know where i had to start this thread*

jimfab only makes 88-91 crx/civic traction bars now.

he actually stopped producing the 92-95 Civic and integra ones a few months back...

http://www.jimfab.com i've purchased the front torque mounts, he's a great guy.
