Default Is it safe to use bolt in cage backing plates as jacking points ?

I was debating on this one.

On the one hand. its thin metal but a large surface area.

On the other hand it is not going to go anywhere

Opinions ?

better to use the jack points if they are still intact. i would not want to risk possibly damaging the unibody and or rollcage by lifting it incorrectly, possibly twisting the rollcage a small amount. (unlikely. just use the lift points.)

I am aware of a few people who have cut small holes in the floor pan in order to use the cage itself as a jacking point. However, this requires a cage that is designed for this type of weight bearing. If this is an unmodified bolt-in cage like kirk or autopower I would not use the backing plates as a jacking point, nor would I use them as jackstand points.
