Default OT: Tar on Paint

Ok guys, I have a slight problem, apparently what appears to be tar has gotten on my car. The size isn't that big (about a dollar bill but spread out and thin) but it has hardened. I don't know exactly how the tar got there or when, but there has been a lot of construction around my neighborhood so I am guessing it is tar.
I know this isn't really R related but I figured yall are as peculiar about yalls car as I am mine and might know how to treat such a thing. What would you guys suggest I use to clean it off without harming the paint. Thanks

Had similar stuff on mine some time ago and WD-40 did the trick. Then washed the car afterwards. All gone.

3M makes a great product, but I forget what it's called...I believe it's "Bug&Tar Remover," but not too sure. It got the nastiness off my Mugens and did no discoloration at all

use that stuff, but dont wait too long, cause it will not come off as easy or may leave a mark.
