no doubt... but look at the rules for the EG forum... B18c5 whatever just expresses his rules in a bit more profesional manner compared to beaka 1 9... I feel that there should be a universal set of rules that ALL forums should fallow and that the Mod of each forum sould only enforce these rules as apposed to going off on some bull **** power trip and pissing every one off... It is a tech forum but it is also there for people with other problems too... I like to consider this forum a Family... and I like the idea of being able you to ask for help for something I dont know... If we have there Mods runing around doing more flaming and bashing than every one else we lose that sence of family... thats pretty much my point and I am drunk and tired so I am going to bed...

 

i dont know breaka enough to form an opinion on him. Ht's policies have changed dramaticly over the past weeks. resistance to change is always to eminant (sp). I do not agree with all of the policies and partially agree w/ "fun" being taken out of the learning experiance.

however, as an admin i see things with a different point of view. honda-tech.com and its corresponding code that makes it up physically reside on someones (i believe mike) computer. The fact that his web server is publicy accessable from all over the world to whomever, entails a certain amount of trust of the users who access the contect. with such trust comes a responsibility on the user end of things to act in a manner that reflects the needs/wants of the person who owns the computers you're accessing. there is absolutly nothing wrong with this. he respects you enough to allow you to see/use and add content to his machines, people need to have a mutual respect for him for allowing us to do so.

since the owner of h-t is only 1 person, he cannot regulate the sites content at will as there is simply too much of it. to assist, moderators have been created to do this. there is a reason as to why the moderators are who they are. they were chosen b/c they were thought to do a good job or the best job their ability allows them to do. they do not act on behalf of the users, they act on behalf of the person who requests their services.

ive had **** locked, % points docked. i really dont give a **** at all. its their job. i make their job harder by violating the tos.... however if the tos wasnt violated, they wouldnt have a job (in theory). it does not bother me that actions of restriction occure in order to maintain a consistant level of usage in coordinance with policies set by the owner of the site.

if you cant deal w/ the sctucture, you do not have to use the service.

to call me childish is childish in its self... I see limoseen's point and respect it... I also respect Breaka 1 9's opinions and athority but feel that that respect is not mutual... this is my argument and this is where i stand... act as you see fit and do what you se neccissary... Ya know its like whenever someone gives you guidlines or rules people feel like this shouldn't be allowed. you should be able to post whatever and whenever. well i guess in your life you have been lucky enough to not have any rules. I wish i could have been so lucky, then i would have done anything i wanted my whole life and been a spoiled brat. Anyways, this place isnt' going to be run like superhonda, you aren't going to be able to make posts about altezza's and where to get them withouth it getting moved to appearance. PIcs of your car isnt' tech, its going to apearance along with the fact that there is a pic post on TOP of this forum no one seems to see, the few people that do see it and actually post pics i should GIVE points to them since i take more points away a day in that thread. Also new people should use the search more often, i'm tired of the same posts each week.

all in all if half of you knew how difficult it is to mod a forum you might understand. its not easy and you can't please everyone. if you don't like the "rules" then don't post on h-t. its as easy as that.

well most of us DO follow the rules and it seems as if we have to walk on eggshells around here because you never know if what you just posted will get moved locked or just flamed all to hell. mst of the time it`s all about your name and post count. if a noob comes in and asks a stupid ? everyone swoops in for the kill , if a mod or decently known person asks one its sounds kool or is the next big thing. case in point look in eg forum under vtecvoodoos name and see where he asked about rhino lining his hatch. if a noob would have asked that ? there would be hell to pay .but no sinceVOODOO brought it up everyone thinks it`s a great idea and the next trend. HELL i thought about doing that years ago when it first came out an di`m sure a bunch of others did too in the process. even if you scroll down to page 3 theres a guy who posts and i qoute" ithought this was gonna be another noob ? but then i saw your name on the post and said KOOL! " now thats ridiculous !it sounds like a bunch of azz smoochin to me . no offense to anyone on this post but i hang out in eg forum more than i do here because of the mods there .everytime you click and that forum theres usually someone posting new pics of their car on the first page and it don`t get moved or locked . no offense brake but you do seem to troll for anything to jump at.

 

breaka is a good guy when i needed help he responded with a TECH response. thats what i would expect from a tech board, not some bullshit excuse, i have seen alot of posts where people are miss informed by other memebers (i have misinformed people on accident on occasion but then re wrote what i put so it was correct). i think breaka does a good job in weeding out all the bullshit. i give a to breaka 1 9.

well i am sorry that i don't speak as professional as b18c5whatever does. i am an engineer in my daily life and english was never my best subject. that translates over into real life and its always been a flaw of mine.

i don't think i flame anyone when i lock or delete a thread. if this is the case, let me know and show me some of my posts where i do that. seriously, i am asking for this b/c in my mind i have not flamed anyone since becoming a mod. i try to keep things professional and tell people post in this thread or that thread or search.

and just so you all know, i respect every member. i have learned a TON from this site and i always try to give back to the members. the reason for this forum specifically being all tech is so people can come here and learn right away. i don't want to have to sift through pics of peoples cars that we have seen before, or their new rims, etc.


this is exactly my point. basically what i try to do is make the majority happy. i know and undertsand i can't make everyone happy here. this thread is proving that.


unfortunately this is the case like i stated above. sounds kind of mean/cruel, but its the truth. everyone here has a choice to stay or to leave. again i am not encouraging anyone to leave, just stating facts.

you have a choice as to where you surf. i am not going tro try and not get offended if you don't come here much b/c of the moderation.

every mod chooses to run their forum their own way. i know h-t back when it originally started. things were very tech related and do you want to know why? b/c another board had too much BS going on and a group of members hated it. dustin and mike said they could make up their own BB and we could all move there. honda-tech started from that and was HARDCORE tech. if you posted something not tech related, you were flamed so bad you didn't want to come back. back then we didn't even need mods b/c it was more like a members run place.

well things have changed here and we can't do that anymore. their are just too many members to have the members run the place. so mods were created who are both members and admins. i know i try to contribute to this site as much as i try to moderate. i guess sometimes one side of me does more than the other...


i hope people realize that i do actually contribute to this site as well as moderate it. i do have to "do my duty" and search through posts everyday to make sure things are on topic, but then i usually go back through the site and answer questions and give ideas, etc.

just like breaka said; it is a choice to visit this site; and this is an individual's server which means private property which means; their rules/ideas prevail. There is nothing wrong w/ that at all. If you ever had a club house as a kid I'm sure that your rules were what mattered b/c you had the choice/power. welcome to the real world. i personally don't mind the rules b/c there are rules for everything & w/o rules I am sure that there would be more & more chit chat & less tech. I would prefer the tech conversations rather than anything else in here- if I wanted to chat I would use IM or a chat room. I dunno-it's early & I honestly think that you haten on a mod b/c you don't like the rules is pointless. If you don't like it go start your own site, otherwise stay & read & be merry. my $.02
