Default 92 civic hatch back

Hi all. I’m looking into buying a Civic Hatch that has already had a ’95 GSR motor and ’00 SI tranny in it. I’m curious what are some common problems associated with this swap? Are there any known problem areas to watch out for? Wiring changes? Mounts?

Basically, I want to know what to look for in identifying if the swap has been done properly. If there are any common problems that can be pointed out in which should be able to be seen on the car indicating that a sloppy job was done, I’d like to know them.

ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED.

Below is the cars description pasted in..

------
Car: 1992 Civic DX Hatchback Engine: 1995 B18c1 / 2000 Civic SI Tranny Engine Mods: DC 4-1 Header, AEM Cold Air Intake, Unorthodox Pulley, MSD 6a Ignition, AEM Cam Gear, STR Cam Seal, Apex, N1 Catback Exhaust, Catco CAT, Magnecor Wires, Paint Valve Cover, Denso Iridium Plugs, B & M Fuel Pump Electronics: Fields VTEC Controller, Autometer Tach, Si Tach, Suspension: Tokico Blues with Weapon-R Coilovers, 15 inch GS-R Rims with Pirelllis, Tenzo R Strut Tower Bar, Rear and Lower Rear, Energy Suspension Bushings, (Control arms, Bushings, and Shift Linkage) Interior: Gutted, Have all plasitc panels from 92 Civic SI except carpet, (Seats, Sides, etc.),Si Clock Exterior: Brand New Jet Black Paint, VIS Duckbill

I heard of someone welding the engine directly to the frame. I don't know if this is possible, but it would be bad because the engine wouldn't be able to shift as it is revved. This could be something to look for.

Hey you stupid ******* noob.. maybe you should shut your mouth before you try to tell people where to post.. this is not a CLASSIFIEDS topic.. it is a TECH topic.. he is in the CORRECT forum.. next time you want to play moderator why dont you sit the hell down and not!?

As for what to look for.. i dunno.. just make sure the car is well kept and that it is not abused.. drive it and make sure the gears don't grind and make sure vtec works and everything like that. If the car is taken care of, chances are the owner made sure the swap was done correcly. Good luck in your search!

Hatchy, I couldn't agree with you more. The test drive is the most important thing. Also, ask 'em for any of there sevice record's and recepts so you can look it over. And if that's not enough, take the car to a reputable mehanic and get his expert opinion.

92 cx b18c1 from 94 gsr. Everything fit right in. I didn't have any problem at all except Vtec doesn't work. When the motor was in the 94 gsr It's wasn't working then and sometime my check engine light come on. Still don't know why.

Knock sensor wire added? When I did my B18C1 that was what was missing...

Yeah, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I understand flamming the n00b, but damn bro.

As for your search, like many have stated before. Ask for service records and receipts. Give it a good test drive and take it to a mechanic for a check up. Good luck.

Also- with a setup like this. (which he says currently runs low 14s, high 13s with slicks).. What would it take to get it into the 13s without the slicks? Could it be easily done without the turbo? (motor has 90K on it.)

hey bro, don't believe some of the stuff ppl say to you. I got a hybrid hatch, it don't run that fast (14 sec) unless you got a completely gutted dx hatch with no accessories. my buddy got a turbo gsr hybrid and he ran 14 sec flat with street tires. so you do the math. with gsr hybrid i believe a 14.7 is average. you can kiss my *** if they say they run 13's even with slick

How does your friend have a turbo charged GSR and still run stock on the quarter mile? Something's not right here, unless he's lying or sux driving.

its vtec and not vtech....
and to answer the question, there shouldnt be any problems if the swap was done correctly...

Well, i'd assume he has slips somewhere.. If he has a v-tec controller, does that mean he has vtec? if not... What's the easiest way to tell?
