Default OT: anyone know how anodized rims are made ?

was just wondering because ive always 'd the way mugen and volk rims look in that anodized bronze, its looks as tho the metal itself is bronze instead of it being painted bronze, im thinking its a chemical reaction (dont know why).

anyone have any ideas as to how this is done ?

anodizing is basically coloring the oxidized coating on aluminum using hi and low temp. electrical currents, water and certain acids. wow, i just sounded like Mr. Wizard.

volk wheels are painted. the only wheels i'm aware of that are anodized are spoon wheels.

Technically its using electrolysis. Anodized finished on the rims are first polished then dipped in a solution that is actually absorbed into the metal rather then something sprayed onto the metal. This is done with different dyes and colors and there are many different type of anodzing and solutions used.

a while back when I used to be into a competitive arechery many of the bows/arrows which are made of aircraft grade aluminium (7075/7178-T9), where anodized.
