What's an ignitor vs an ignition coil?
I'm having strange thumps in my ignition and/or misses..
I'm thinking of replacing ignition components, however, when I went to
the store, and asked for the ignitor, they said it was $190? I think
I'm getting this confused with the ignition coil...
What is the ignitor? And should I change that out?
What should I change out to try and solve my problem?

number 12 is ignition coil.
number 8 MAY be what is referred to as ignitor, since it is closest to 180.
and it looks like the OEM distributor components are made by TEC. I bought one from autozone 2 weeks ago, which was also made by TEC, but $59 dollars before tax.

The igniter is #8 in that diagram, lists for ~$193 but they sell it for $155. There's a guy selling a used but good igniter from a 97 ITR. He said they are on national backorder, but they are not, I contacted Carland Acura and they assured me they have plenty ready to ship.
Hmm... my car just died today on the road and it won't start. I hope it's just a coil, but would it be a good idea to repalce the igniter anyways? I mean the car has 104k miles on it. It would suck for the igniter to go bad and to leave me stranded again.
theres no ignition coil if you have a igniter, the igniter is in ur distributor cap, so i think you should take out a plug and have it connected to the plug wire, then put the plug near the header or a ground, then turn the car over, if you dont see any spark, then i would just buy a new distributor. the ignitor you said was 190, then the whole distributor should be around 230 250 with the core. oh and dont forget to buy a timing light.
