Default Stripping a EG For The Track (56k Beware)

The local track opens on Sunday so I decided to take advantage of the cool temps and try and get a good time out of the hatch. I took a few pics to document parts of the process..

Taking the seats out to remove the carpet. Notice the new electric impact my parent got me for X-mas Gets the seat and seatbelt bolts out alot quicker than a socket

Driveable again!

More sticky!

Hopefully this will be enough to run a 8.9 or better in the 1/8th on Sunday. We'll see!

You did the right thing.

I would kill myself having to look at palmy blue everyday.

Pull out the passenger side seatbelt while your at it. Those have a bit of weight to them too. You'll see what i mean...

Yeah if your gonna strip it, might as well go all out... passenger seat / belt and door panels etc. Hmmm, headliner still up there?

Door panels are already out. Passenger seat and belt needs to stay since I have to give my brother a ride to the track. Seat will come out at the track though.

It took roughly 30 minutes to completely strip it to what it loks like now. It will take roughly and hour to put it back together. I don't know how much weight it saved but it filled my closet with parts. I may get a scale and see how much it helped. I may also hit the truck scales in the morning to see the cars weight

With full interior minus spare it ran a 14.6. Last time it was not this stripped and still ran .4 seconds faster. In a tq less light car weight plays a big factor in your times.

Also, pull that rear bumper cover off when you get to the track. That's good for like .2 seconds. Looks stupid as hell, but it's less wind resistance...

Edit: Sorry about the thread whoring...

With the backhalf stripped it ran a 9.1 at 78mph.
I tried removing the bumper cover and it made no difference. Maybe in the 1/4 it would but in the 1/8th i'm sure i'm not going fast enough to consider it a factor.

how much does the carpet weigh? And also, how hard is it to get out?

It weighs a couple of pounds plus the sound mat below weighs a little, more if it is damp. If you take out the seats, center console, and the seatbelt anchors then it pulls out. Goes back pretty easy too.

On my previous car it had full interior and best I was able to hit was a 8.6. Now in my gutted car I hit a 8.5. So, I think youll hit atleast a 9.0
