Default 87 Si in 90 dx...

a friend of mine knows a guy with a 87 Si crx for sale really cheap. good shape, low milage, runs strong. he has a 90 crx dx that is an automatic. he wants to know if he can just put the 87Si engine and tranny in his 90 dx?

i know all the steps and things needed to convert auto to manual. wondering if the 87 shift linkage and stableizer bar would work, or if i should give him my 88 linkage? also what mounts would be used...and which ecu? 87 Si, or 88 dx( both b/c they are 1.5L 5spd.) thanks for the help

Its not worth the trouble it would take to put it in. When my '87 Si HB had the stock motor in it I got my *** kicked in a race with a '91 bone stock DX HB. Its not worth it in my opinion.

thats my opinion too... but the kid is determined to make his car a 5spd. and he can get all that crap in trade for a set of cheap wheels. he is stuborn and so i told him i would find out if it is possable, how hard it is....and which shift linkage should be used... regardless of if it is worth it or not. thanks

84-87 CRX/Civic have the old school 12v engine which had around 58-91hp. It won't swap in and its not worth the trouble.

Yay, you get a medal. The dude in the 86 prolly didn't know how to drive.
Your automatic is a POS.
