Default Chet's 1992 Civic DX HB (56k Please be Careful)

well, i've posted a few pics of my car, although i thought i'd post in this section to see what everyone thinks. after i rebuild my engine (brand new b18c5 bottom end) i will work on the cosmetics. i'm thinking a carbon fiber hood and OEM front lip, and possibly a spoon duckbill wing. now i'm not into looks...but i'd like to make it look like something other than your average 5th gen teal hatchback.

comments welcome, and be critical, i'd like to hear everyone's advice.

here are the specs, and i went 14.5@95 with a 2.257 60 ft so the car is slow, but does well at auto-x's.

-B16A3
-JDM ITR Transmission
-Type R Clutch
-Type R Pressure Plate
-Field VTEC Controller
-Apexi World Sport Full Catback
-Testpipe (from testpipes.com, they are excellent)
-Type R Front Strut Bar
-Benen Rear Upper Strut Bar
-Progress Auto 22mm Sway Bar
-00 Civic Si Rear Disc Brakes
-AEM Front Brake Pads
-Neuspeed Race Springs
-Koni Yellows
-15 x 7 Volk CE28N's
-15' Falken Azeni's

(sorry about the quality here, but it was all my roommate could get with the sun as it was)

Looks good. I wish my car was that clean

I made an air box like that at one point, but it never made it back on my car after the last swap.

Looks: I would leave it. If you get a CF hood get a factory looking one. If you must get a lip or rear spoiler, get CF, and ditch the interior. Weight reduction looks better than anyting else. I would paint any CF pieces so they do not draw unwanted attention.

Looks good. I like the wheels. And there's nothing wrong with another clean Teal hatch, even if it's Aztec green . Only thing is, if you're looking to make it something "different than your average 5gen teal hatch" then a carbon hood and duckbill wing definately won't set you apart from the rest. But, I think you should do what "you" want, and don't worry about what others think. Nice hatch

i pretty much agree with everyone saying do your own thing, but since you want some critisizim, i have a aztec green hatch, mine isn't as dent free lol, but have you ever thought the oem look, maybe not draw any attentino to yourself at all, cf is nice very nice, but it draws alot of unwanted attention, like they said if you got the duckbill wing and this and that, someone out there has already done it, so be yourself, do your own thing, for the rims i would go honda man, some si's or some itr's usdm, cuz there 15's, anyways man good luck oh yeah strip that interior, i finally did mine
peace man do it up
good luck

thanks guys, my goal is 13.0's on these wheels/tires with full interior.

a friend of mine is going to build the motor for me, as i'm just not confident about building my first motor with my daily driver...although i've done 7 swaps now i'm just not ready to work on internals.

eventually, i will get a cage, two racing seats, and bring the car to road courses whenever i get the chance.

has anyone had any experience with fiberimages/VIS or spoon carbon fiber products?

i'm assuming spoon is the best, but should i spend the money if something else is as good minus the name.

oh yeah, if you want, we at hondaswap can host your pictures.

http://www.hondaswap.com

register (for free of course)
click on forums, click on gallery, and follow the instructions.
just thought i'd mention that...as i've had a few people ask me over IM where they can have pictures hosted.

and another thing, has anyone had experience with carbon fiber front lips. i was told by EFZero that i'll break one if i hit a cone while auto-xing...and i'm known to kill cones from time to time...so maybe this wouldn't be a good idea??

thanks again.

my airbox was made by http://www.hrmfab.com (located here in safety harbor florida outside of tampa/st pete/clearwater area)

its designed to allow for headlight removal and ram air...so while i'm racing at road courses i can get colder air.

as far as the rims, i had vx wheels (they were the wheels/tires were yokohama ats') and went 14.5 on them, but they were just too small and too unstable at higher speeds, like 80 and above. for right now, with these wheels as they are i can go to auto-x's and be the fastest car on street tires...and i love the volks for how lightweight they are, and being 15 x 7's i'll eventually be able to stuff 215's or maybe even 225's on them.

thanks for the comments...

hopefully if my roommate doesn't get too drunk and stoned, we'll take some more pics of my car with its inside wheel up. i'm fascinated by this phenomenon and would like to get some clear pics.

Looks great. VIS is probably your best bet in terms of bang for the buck.

that was my first thought...but then i talked to some people who said a carbon fiber lip is prone to breaking. i was told by EFzero (whom i trust because he sells the products and said i should stay with an oem honda lip) that a carbon fiber lip wouldn't be a good idea if i'm auto-xing.

i'm still exploring my options...and i'm hoping some people on this board can help me out with their personal experiences.
