Default If you were buying 4th Gen or 5th Gen VTEC

I'm a big fan of the ludes, but just wondering other honda-tech members opinions.
If you were looking to buy a Prelude which would you buy, a 4th gen. or 5th gen.

I love the vtec but which is a better car in your opinions.

Any advice or knowlege wold be helpful.

Thanks a lot.

If I had the money to buy any Prelude, I would buy a stock, loaded 4th gen VTEC. I think their looks are superior to the 5th gen.

I posted this strictly to get opinions on the two different cars, not to become a my car is better than your car post. So please keep it to personal opinions and a argument.

Other than that post away, i need info

fact is 4th gen will be faster stock. a little lighter, OBD I, slightly different gearing?? I'm not sure but I heard that somewhere. and in terms of looks I would choose the 4g too. plus it would be cheaper and you have more money for aftermarket stuff.

Not the 96, it would be OBD-II also

I personally have no experience driving in or ridding in a 5th gen so I'm going to be humble and I say I can't really comment.

But 4th gen VTEC's do kick ***

If you don't mind having a two seater...get the 4th Gen. I LOVE both models. I wanted the better car for racing so I bought the 4th Gen. But if you want to be able to drive people around get the 5th Gen. NO ONE can fit in my back seats. The 4thGen as stated before is faster too.

Either choice is good....it just depends on what you are looking for.

They are the different ECUs. '95 and earlier had OBD-I and '96 and up have OBD-II. Supposedly OBD-II doesn't give you as much power with bolt-ons as OBD-I, but I don't think it has been proven with dyno plots.

Oh yeah, and I guess I'm gonna have to be biased and choose a 4th gen I like them because they are more rare than 5th gens. Plus, I love the interior.

5th gen. i love the look, drive and the gauges. but yes, a 4th gen you can have more $$ to modify.

personally, i would pick the 4th gen.. it just looks way better.. it looks pretty slick too.. i really think the dash board panel sets it apart, everything l.e.d.. something unique..

h22a4 is better for NA applications h22a1 is better for turbo. the open deck design gives you more cooling that is more evenly distributed over theentire cylinder, thus less detonation. although it does sacrafice its rigidity which is important under boost.
