How Hot does your GSR run?
I have a feeling my 96 GSR is running hot. My temp gauge is only going a little under half way up. But it was sticking a while ago because of my Indiglo gauges. I have now taken them out. and the gauge seems to work. When its raining and i am in traffic i can see a lot of steam coming from the top of the hood. The motor feels hot, but i don't know what too hot really is? Can anyone help me figure out if maybe this is normal or the temp gauge is tweaked? Thanks.

Have you replaced your radiator, or is it cracked?
It is very common for an Integ with 100k+ miles to have their radiator die. I would check the coolant level and see if it's leaking out.
It is definitely not normal if you see your hood steaming.

Yep, new radiator about 1k ago, Im doing the Water pump in a few weeks, but its not leaking, and the fluid is full. The steam from the rain it tripping me out. is that normal? The cars next to me in traffic dont do it, but i havent looked at other tegs especially.
While it is somewhat normal for Integra radiators to go around 100K miles or so, the steaming in the rain is perfectly normal. It is even more prevalent if you have aftermarket headers or your heatshield isn't on anymore.
Remember, in our cars, the exhaust manifold is right under the hood in the front. There is lots of heat generated. It will steam in the rain, don't worry about it.
As long as your temp gauge is just under the middle, you're fine. Make sure your fan turns on, and if you want, you can pressure check your radiator.
For radiator alternatives, you can either go with some high quality brand name such as Fluidyne or C&R; or you can go with an OEM replacement (meaning aftermarket facsimile, but with aluminum endtanks).
Good luck.

Anyway, I remember when my radiator cracked I started seeing seem coming out. But if you replaced the radiator, and don't see any evidence of coolant in your engine bay, then I wouldn't worry about it.

your thermostat could be stuck closed.
Edit: Ok...it guess it could be stuck but I don't think that would be very likely. Besides he would be overheating all the time.

My car does the same thing, it's normal. I get steam from my hood and from my cross drill/vented brake rotors when it rains. My temp gauge stays a little under half, too.
well maybe my thermo is stuck open cuz when the car is moving it never moves off the C and i have to idle for atleast 15min for it to reach up to not even half and no matter what i do it never even touches the halfway point
maybe i got a wednesday car
