when my car sits idling i notice that the temperature creeps up. but when i turn the car off and start it back on the fans turn on and the temperature goes down. why isn't the fan turning on by itself? wat could be the problem?

Change your thermostat. You have a 92-95 civic with the d15 vtec right? The fan temp switch is right behind the thermostat. The thermostat and gasket should only be about $10 bucks. Just ask for a 92-95 civic thermostat. They should all be the same.

 

how long are you letting it idle? it takes my cx with a b16a like 10-15 minutes before the fan will kick on if i just sit there and wait for it...most likely its your thermostat or fan switch(both easy and normal routiene matience)(i dont know how to spell maintence)

 

if the car dosent overheat dont worry
it can take 20 minuets for he fan to turn on.

 

My Fan takes a long time to turn on. Then turns off in a little while after.

 

Is the car overheating. You shouldn't really have a problem.

mine blew in the winter last year sometime and i didnt find out untill april when it got warm

 

actually i turn the car off before it gets a chance to reach the red and overheat. and when i turn the car back on the fan comes on and the temperature goes back down. the motor is a jdm d15b sohc vtec.

 

i have the same problem...my fan never comes on...EVER...but my car never gets hot either its weird...i must have let it idle for 30 mins one time and it never came on...i thinkin i need to just replace the thermo cause it might be stuck open or somethin
