How do you wash your clothe towels???
I heard that if you use some certain liquids when you wash your towels, it leaves streaks on your car when you dry it. Therefore, what do you use to wash the towels, and how do you do it?
I would also add this.
May sure you rise super good. If you really want to, let it dry, dust (shake, slap, etc) it out to get what ever detergent out. Then rise again.
Also, keep seperate towels for each purpose. And ofter you wash them, use them the same way. So in other words, you don't need to clean your towels that well, because sometimes the stains will just not come off or clean. So instead of using more soap and heavy stuff, just let it be. Throw them away when it's time to go, or downgrade them to other duty in your car wash steps, like tires, wheels, or muffler.

When I dry though, it looks like it's leaving a slight residue and I get a lot of swirly looking marks. Do I need to NOT use detergent at all????
Is your towel of good quality? If it's harsh and brittle, maybe is time for them to retire to cleaning the wheels/tires, etc.
As for "residue" are we sure that is soap? There are a lot of crap in our water system that if left alone, it will leave white spots that are a pain to remove sometimes.
Compare it after a rain, the "clean" rain water never leave the same mark compare to tap water. Thank goodness for mother earth.

If you're having problems with water spots & streaking after washing your car, you might want to try what I do:
After I dry my car, I go over the entire car with a spray detailer (I've used both Meguier's and Wax Shop sprays and they both work well). It takes about an extra 20 minutes, but it gets rid of any water spots, makes the car look like it was just waxed and I get more "mileage" out of my wax. Water spots and streaking may not be as much of a problem on lighter colored cars, but on a darker finish (mine's black), it really helps.

FWIW, Meguiar's Gold Class car wash seems pretty good about not leaving waterspots. Seem to work pretty well to use that, wash in the shade, and wipe off ASAP.
