Default Project Civic EK - Rallycross Ready!

I've got a rallycross this weekend, and just finished some final details. It's snowing pretty hard, so I'm really excited to see how this all plays out.
I've got a B18C1 that I'm sleeving and building for 25PSI from a Garrett T3/T04E bearing turbo, but that all won't go in until this fall...so I'm having some fun rallycrossing/autocrossing in the meantime. Running in "Class 2" for this weekends rallycross. I'm using Hakkappleitta Nokia snow rally tires, imported from New Zealand.

I'm STOKED!

I bought this front strut tower brace, just installed it, and installed the rear one + gutted the hatch yesterday:

Notice the SOHC non-VTEC POWER beast!

Here's a shot of how the tailstraps on the harnesses mount to the factory rear seatbelt location:

The rear brace:

The snow rally tires:

Wish me luck!

No roll cage?

Anyways, hope you have fun and rag out that engine.

Which ones rally cross. Is that when your half on the road and then half off road. I havnt seen this before. Is it like a SCCA kind of thing.

Just a thought, harness and no rollcage equals a bad thing. Might hold you tight during turning, but if you roll say gnight.

oh and want to send me a set of those tires?....stock bald michelins suck...

1st...

Rallycross is an SCCA santioned event. It's held just like an autocross, but on dirt, so it's a solo competition.

2nd...

This rallycross is being held at a gravel pit. The course is dirt, and there should be no chance of flipping the car, so the rollcage won't be necessary. I will be doing a full cage + camera mount once the new engine's going in, but for now the harnesses are the best investment to keep my azz planted for rallycross/autocross.

3rd...

Thanks for the good luck!

awesome a rally civic, you should look into those "indestructible" axles. You might need them later down the road.
Good luck man

but don't you think you should maybe invest in a true ball bearing turbo such as a garrett GT25 or so? I mean since you'll be doing a lot of rallying...you would want a turbo that is efficent and with spool up characteristics that will give you superior throttle response? good luck benny... but please get a cage.. I'd hate for anything to happen to you..damn it's snowing there.. it's like 90degrees here in L.A

Why would you make a rally car 550hp?

the garrett t3/t04e 60 trim i'm getting is a full bearing turbo

i'm doing 9.5:1 83mm je pistons and eagle rods...already have darton pro sleeves waitin to go in

i'll be running 10ish PSI on the street/autocross, but will crank it to 25psi for drag

i don't plan to rallycross the car often, but figured "what the hell"...i'm gonna give it a try and have fun with the little power i've got until the beast goes in

He's not.

He's talking about getting axles that can withstand 550 hp, i.e. strong axles that could handle the kinds of stresses that come from rallying even if the car doesn't have 550hp.

is there something bad about having the Y-style harness? the mounting is wrong/bad?? better to have a harness bar? or full rollcage?

"not safe"???

oh really...care to expand?

they're mounted to the stock rear seatbelt mounts, as per SCHROTH's installation instructions...i've been using these harnesses for over a year, and haven't had any problems with them yet!

bah, youre being overcritical. look sat his setup, those are oem seatbelt locations, he has no rollbar, this is a for-fun event and there are other things to worry about. those mounting points are great.
