before i asked about hybrid parts to use with my fully Honda rebuilt 88Si tranny.. well my clutch may be slipping already after beating the **** out of it, so..
well right now my current setup is:
88Si tranny
89 Accord clutch disk
90 crx pressure plate
90 crx flywheel
i was wondering if i can use:
88 crx clutch
88 crx pressure plate
90 crx flywheel??
or do i have to use an 88 flywheel also??
the 90 flywheel surface will be more then 88si but can this work or not?? i never got the answer to this a while back.

the 90-91 clutches are cheaper than the 88-89 ones since they fit all d-series from 90 on up. use the 90 flywheel that you have with a 90 disc and pressure plate. i got a centerforce clutch pressure plate throwout bearing and pilot bearing all from http://www.nopionline.com for a very reasonable price. make sure you have the flywheel resurfaced before installing the new clutch or it wont last as long.

I'm wondering though... CAN I USE:
88si clutch
88si pressure plate
and
90si Flywheel
meaning will a 88si pressure plate mate to a 90-91 flywheel.
No you cann't use a 90+ Flywheel with a 88 or 89 Clutch/pressure plate. You would have to upgrade your clutch/pressure plate with like a ACT upgrade that uses the 90+ flywheels. The 88 and 89 pressure plate and disc are smaller diameter and will not bolt up
Hope this helps you out.

this thread is a year old but i need a quick answer for someone.
Heres the deal:
89 si tranny
90 clutch
90 flywheel
does this work no problem? i was told it was but i only heard it from one person and just want to confirm.

screamincivik - yes, that setup will work, that is what i have on my 89 civic si
as for the pressure plate - it will have to be the pressure plate for the flywheel that you use. the 88-89 flywheels are smaller in diameter than the 90 and up civics, so they are not interchangable. i have tried - it doesn't work. i'm not even sure the 88 and 89 are interchangable either.
if you want to stick with the 88 tranny, you will either need to find a 21 spline clutch disc that will work, or you could change out the shaft to a 89-91 model to have the 20 spline. that would mean taking the tranny apart again, but that could be an option.
you also said you are running an accord disc? what about trying to see if the accord pressure plate will fit with the civic flywheel. that may be worth a try too.
good luck with whatever you do.

Im running an 89 tranny with a 90 civic pressure plate, 90 civic clutch, and 90 civic flywheel. I assume since all the contact areas are the same size and spline count that it will work.
