Blowing Black SH*T out the tail pipe on startup
Anyone ever seen this? Only when you start it up looks like it shoot black carbon type stuff all over the ground. It this going to become a big problem? What does this mean? I am running a Strait pipe with no Cat Convert. Maybe because I have not cat?
I thought it was an indication of running super rich?
my ECU went into "limp" mode once(tosses alot of gas to the engine to protect it), and I had to drive the car a long ways to get back home which the whole way it was basically snowing black flakes out my exhaust....

Generally Black smoke is an indication of running too rich. Acually I cant think of a case where its not. Black = fuel, so your lucky. Probally not a big deal, mabey a timing issue.
As for black Carbon type stuff all over the ground, I have no idea, but if its any kind of solid coming out of your motor, thats probally not good. Dont really understand what it could be though.

also when i start my car it spits out water with carbon mixxed in it. mufflers tend to trap water when they sit. then when you start the car it comes out along with carbon soot
Hey I have a stock DX and I have to clean this black **** off the back of my car every week. It's this black dirt crap that gets all over the back of my hatch. It's obviously coming from the exhaust pipe (duh).
Any ideas what the problem could be? The car runs well.
