I have used the search function but can't really find what I'm looking for. I am thinking about buying a gs-r front sway bar for my ls(It's a 2000). I already have the ITR rear sway bar (waiting to be installed in the spring but I want it now!!!!) and thought I'd pair it up seeing as the ITR and GSR are very similar (in size anyway). Well my questions are:
1. What size sway bar does the LS have?
2. What do I need to be sure it bolts right on?
3. What improvements or will it improve handling coupled with the ITR rear sway bar?
Thanks in advance and a couple of
and
to who ever gives me a hand.

Alright...I'm not exactly sure on the size of the bars (they might even be the same in the front with all the models except the ITR), but I will tell you this:
What you want to do when you modify the suspension in our cars is to fix the chronic understeer that we get. You do this by installing a thicker rear bar. Since you already have an ITR rear bar, getting a possibly thicker front bar will just negate out what you just did by stiffening up the rear.
The goal is to have a neutral balanced car. You don't want more understeer, or you don't want to have too much oversteer. If anything....you'd want more oversteer than understeer. At least you can control that.

I just figured stiffening up the front end and the back end would result in better handling.....but since you put it that way AAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
Anyone have experience with this situation???
Needs clarity!!!!!!

LS have a 22.1mm front bar, GSR's have a 24.00mm front bar.
Yes, sway bars can be used as a tool to adjust your over and understeer, but that is not their only purpose.
They are designed to reduce body roll. A thicker front bar will remove some of the oversteer he has now, but it will also reduce body roll as well. Keep in mind the ITR also has a 24mm front bar, and it handles very close to neutral.
A bigger front bar should improve your LS's handling ability.

2.) The GS-R/Type-R 24mm front swaybar is a direct bolt on. No modification is required.
3.) I have no personally experience with the 22mm front/22mm rear swaybar combo vs. 24mm front/22mm rear swaybar combo, so I cannot comment. But, hopefully someone that has run the 22mm front and 22mm rear combo and then has upgraded to the 24mm front swaybar can comment on the improvement.
Stiffing up the rear of your car will result in the rear of the car rotating more, or understear less. By adding a Bigger bar up front you are taking going to make it understeer more... however the car will probaly transition better, meaning it would slalom better, and it will probably feel more "stable", however most people tend to think loose is fast and while the car may not slalom as good with what you have not it will handle better overall.

awesome!! Thanks guys. Well since the front sway bars are all the same on the 2000 ls and gsr (24 mm) no point in taking this any further.
I appreciate the help.
