I have a GSR, well over 100k on it and recently when I go over small bumps in the road, more like cracks that stick up a little, when my left rear wheel goes over the crack/bump I hear what sounds like a metalic rattle, coming from the same area.

discription of the sound is that of a bell that has something stuck in it, if that kind of makes sense, very metalic sound though.

unfortunately, I haven't had time to get under it and look, I go to work before the sun comes up, and I generally don't get home till after the sun has gone down, or is starting to go down.

has anyone else experienced any issues that sound like mine? what was your resolution?

Do you hear the noise when you brake....I know my brakes were old and starting making that noise when I would brake, and then they started to do it when I went over bumps too...

 

no, that may be a good check out though, while going over a bump with the brakes on I wonder if I can still hear the noise?

but no, my brakes are in good condition, still over 70% on back, and about 30% front, almost time for a brake job..

my brakes sound like dragging a chain...(kinda like the bell thing)...my brake pads were worn.

 

i think i might know what it is...is your spare tire/jack/jack accesories secured? I know mine used to do that...check it out...that might be it.

 

or that...mine did that too...that was a loud noise. the brakes were with everything quiet.

 

I will give that a look, I haven't touched my spare tire ever, I assumed they secured it at the factory

yeah, that's a good idea....my spare tire kit was doing the same thing

 

check for rocks stuck inside the rotor and dust shield area
