AWD is better for take off. Check out all the R33-34 and Audi in professional racing. They usally get a jump on the competition from a dead stop. Turning?? Well it depends on how you like to drive. Sometimes you want to break the rear end loose so that you can turn better and have a better exiting speed. Its easier to do that in a RWD.

As far as the curves, it depends on where you hit your lines, where you accelerate through, before, or after the apex. Also, AWD car is usually heavier=poor suspension response and handling dynamics. Further more, the AWD system can be counter-productive-slip, slide, and steerings angles can be compremised. With that said it all comes down to the suspension setup, driver, and conditions.
