Well pretty much what the topic says. How do you know if the tranny is LSD or not? And can you tell if it is USDM or JDM? TIA

 

THe only way i know how to tell for a fact if it is.. is to look through the whole where the axle and intermediate shaft go inside and if its completly hollow then its lsd. If it has a bar goin inbetween the middle it has NO lsd..

It might but if its cable and old it might not be visable... I have no clue if it cam with that stamp or not.. Why are you about to buy one? How much you paying? Tehre is one for sale on thepartstrader with aftermarket lsd and its a jdm S1 those have the quickest gears if i had the loot id buy it.

 

Well, i'm not about to BUY one but i'm selling my eg6 shell and someone local wants it. I'm planning on building the motor outta my hatch and putting it into a crx. He just happens to have a crx with a YS1. Since he can't use the cable tranny in my shell and i can't use my GSR tranny in the crx we're going to trade... He's going to give me his shell and $$ and i'm going to give him my eg shell....

 

some of the jdm ones came with an optional lsd, you can also take one from an type R and use it. hte only thing is that the casing will hace to be slightly modified in order to fit one. You can even use a different final with the ys1

 

heres my Y1 that was in my 88 crx si, cable tranny B16, you can see the LSD stamp sorta above where the tranny code is....imagestation sucks *** so heres a link that actually works.....

Rev it to 6000rpm and dump the clutch...

If it pulls wildly to one side, no LSD.

 

FRESH is right...i have a YS1 cable tranny with no stamp but no bars through the hole too and its LSD...

 

Does anyone know how many horses the tranny's are rated for? Im in the process of building a monster and I didnt want to keep replacing blown tranny's... thanks

Look for a stamp on the tranny labeled LSD....

 

That's what i thought but the tranny is pretty old isn't it? if it's jdm

my Y1 has a LSD stamp on it too. its right at hte top under where the dizzy would be

 

Freind has a Y1 cable tranny thinks it is LSD. I have looked though the hole 4 axle and int. shaft NO bar butt the hole gets smaller in he middle. Is that aftermarket LSD? Is there a way to know by the S #'s ?
