engines?
There was an article on a european with a 900rr. He had 260,000 miles on his bike, but he had toured the world with it.
I have seen several honda cbr 600's with well over 100,000 miles on them. There arent that many high mileage R6's as they are usually totalled early on in life. The r1 and r6 are high on insurance lists for being stolen/wrecked.

True, but most bikes aren't properly maintained or used. A lot are used for extended wheelies, which sometimes result in oil starvation. Oil's not changed regularly, drive lash isn't adjusted, and generally they're wadded up by about 30k.
But, like they said, if you buy it new (or from someone you know) and you maintain it and treat it with respect, it will probably run at least 50-60k without any major work. At which point, you can always rebuild it. Finding blocks usually isn't that hard, since that's one of the few parts that lives through an accident.
