I know there is a ton of you guys that make your own ghetto heatshield for your intake (short ram ones). Any suggestions? I have the J's Racing one and it is cramped as it is. Pics are welcome!

coat it for better heat resistance.

 

The Hondata intake manifold gasket is probably a better investment.

 

is this really a worthwhile mod?

 

the intake manifold, being directly attached to the red hot engine block is probably the greatest contributor to heat in the intake charge (air). this mod has been shown to greatly decrease the transfer of heat energy from the block to the IM. while fabbing up a heat shield for a short stick intake may have it's merits - the ideal system should be CAI in design to begin with - if intake temp is a concern. beyond that - you should consider this mod if you live in areas where it is hot all the time.
