The splines are on the clutch disk, not the flywheel if that answers your question. Basiclyyou are limited to the pressure plate size you have now as that was the only year that used that spline count. but then there are better aftermarket disks to be had. 90-91 had a larger diameter clutch, the difference between the 88 and 89 was the clutch disk itself, both used the same flywheel and pressure plate.

92-95 clutch parts are even better & you can use them as well as long as you use clutch disk, pressure plate, etc.

Since your upgrading your clutch setup, Why not go with a 90-01 setup so you get the bigger disk. 88's are 190mm and 90-91 are 212mm. ACT makes a disk that is 212mm with the correct spline for the 88 input shaft. I have an 88 tranny in my car and it works awesome.

i would but i got a stage 2 something (friend didnt fill me in on make) for an 88 for xmas. also id use an oem clutch anyway if i didnt have one gifted to me (will last 20K on average w/ my setup) for $130.
anything is better than my current setup which allow me to use all of 13% throttle before it slips since i broke the pressure plate

Wish I had soemthing better than a New Borg-Warner POS. Damn thing slips when pushed real hard. ANd I don't have the stickiest tires in the world either. 205/50-15, damg thing has done that for most of the last year too, even though I babied it the first 1,000 miles when it went in. Knew I should have spent the extra money and got something decent, but NO! I had to listen to my wife. And the ZC is overpowering the 212mm clutch the ZC flywheel takes.

Well the 130HP of the ZC is a bit more than the 92hp of a DX. And the slipping does occure only at shifts made above 6,500RPM. Well sometimes it grabs and I get tirespin other times the clutch slips. Its that close to being a fine clutch. Close but no cigar.
