Default is a different size timing belt needed when going from a CX head to DX?

im goin from a d15b8 to d15b7 head .. i tried to use a 96 VTEC EX head but my timing belt was too big.. will my same belt work for the 92-95 DX head?

I believe when you swap on a vtec head, you'll need to use the VX timing belt. The DX heads should take the same timing belt. Don't quote me, but I'm almost positive.

The dx head will work with your current belt and the VX belt will be the one to use for a vtec head. If the head is off check and see if your CX had valve reliefs for 16 valves. Since the cx is a 8 valve motor some of them came with reliefs for 8 valves only which would mean a big mess if you put a dx or vtec head on it.
