1999 Civic Si - Should I consider it?
Whats up...This is probally the wrong forum for this but I don't know where else to post this...
I was looking for a 1999 - 2000 Civic Si for my friend because he is very interested in buying one...
So, I found this one on the internet - It is a Black 1999 Civic Si in excellent condition and all the services and maintance have been performed. The guy said it had few minor scratches just from regular driving and has NEVER been in an accident. The only thing is that it had 96,000 miles on it (Mostly Highway) and the guy is asking about $10,000 negotiable...
What do you guys think -
Too much for a car with that many Miles?
Good Deal?
Bad deal?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Check the Kelly Blue Book value on http://www.kbb.com .
I checked the value of a '99 Civic Si w/ 96000 miles in excellent condition on the Kelly Blue Book website in Los Angeles, CA and the KBB value is $9,740.

I say got for it. so what if it's not the fastest car on the road. it's still a fun car to drive and looks really good IMO

i would wait, or still go down lower, you still have to worry about tax and licenceing. so 9,500 with tax and licence would be around 10,500 +/- so yea i would wait. and new cars now a days have good finance plans. and great warrenties.
That many miles and he wants $10000! What is he smoking! I could get a 99 EX coupe with low miles and drop in a B16a and probaly will come out to the same deal with low miles. Don't forget even though he took care of the car. It still has wear and tear. Maybe it'll need a clutch?, Tires?, 96K=timing belt, drive belts, water pump, sparkplugs, tranny service, coolant flush, oil change? Alignment?, maybe needs brakes? I would say $7000.
I can't see paying that much for it. Why not go with a high mileage EX and engine swap? The EX will probably also be a little easier on the insurance rates and won't attract as much attention from thieves...

Alot of people on here who have had a swapped car like a CRX or HB for a while kinda get tired of the rough ride and lack of creature comforts. A Si is a decently quick car with good looks. Plus if the urge to go fast ever came up a bolt on turbo kit and a mild drop would still leave it a nice daily driver.
I would offer him $9k
HELL NO
i found a 99 si some mods,
clean title
34k miles
for 11k
he was asking 13k but i got him down to 11k , but i never bought it

10g too much... New Civic lx is around 13g... Not Si, but brand new....
Another thing to consider is that the mileage is obviously highway, not city stop and go. I have 80K on my '99 Si and it runs like a dream.
I don't think a 99 Si with 96k on it is worth 10k...even if he has done the timing belt, clutch, water pump, etc. etc. I would pay 9k at the most if it's in GOOD shape. 10-11k would be what I'd expect to see it at on a used car lot.
My 101,700 mile '99 runs like a top. I keep after it pretty well, but nothing too **** retentive, either. I wouldn't let that sort of mileage bug you, if it runs well. Make sure the timing belt is new, however.
hmm.. I have a 2000 MR SI with 35.5k miles. Garage kept, never driven in snow.. MINT.. I drive my beater Accord everyday.. I've put 2,500 miles on the car in the last 6 months... How much is he willing to pay?
there s a few things u need to consider than the condition of the car..it ll need a 100k service..most dealers are talking nearly $700 with a timing belt..may as well throw in a water pump also..
regardless whether its been taken care of or not..there is still the wear and tear with 96k..though it may not show now..those associated problems will certainly come forward once u get over 100k
ive always like d the Si s..and 10k isnt a bad price if milage wasn t a factor..id say more like $8500 to $9000 should the need to make major repairs in the near future..brakes, clutch, waterpump..etc..always something major nearing 100k

I say go for it. It's a very fun car to drive and I have no regrets with mine. I'm also running decent times in the 1/4 with minor mods so I'm content. For now at least. :D
