Default Hatch Lift Supports

I bought some new hatch lift supports for my CRX, but as I think of getting an 88-91 hatch I want to know if they use the same lift supports? If they do then I won't be installing my new supports.

They are about $15 each, so $30 a set. Pretty pricey, but if you ever buy new ones you will be happy you did. As for heavy duty, not that I know of, but once you get new ones they will feel heavy duty. I put some new ones on my '89 Mustang GT and they were so strong that you really had to pull to get that thing down to close it. All the one's I've ever bought have been from auto parts stores.

if you think $30 for a pair is pricey, i had to pay $60 for one for my 99 teg. talk about ouch!

my GF paid $20 ea or $40 total from the consumer auto parts around here. so it looks like anywhere from $15 ea. to $30 ea. is the going rate...

Do they have a brand name? My car needs them desperately. I keep some of my tools in the trunk (no garage), so every time I'm working on the car and need to get in the trunk, the damn think hits me in the head! literally! And everytime I have to get in there I have to keep using the key

Yes they do, can I think of it right now? No I can't. It really isn't important, your best bet is to get off the internet and go out shopping at auto parts stores.

one more thing to add...

the civic ones have a "ball joint" at both ends whereas the crx ones only have the "ball joint" at one end...

Mine cost me about 20 bucks each at Autozone here. Before I replaced them I used my broken cargo cover to hold the hatch up, seem to do the trick.

Did just that last night . AutoZone only had a brand called Mighty Lift for $23, but "fixhondas" here on H-T told me that Strong Arm were the best. I found them at 3 local stores ranging in price from $19 (Baxter's) to $30 (Napa) for the same exact thing. I bought the $19 one

I know this is hella old, but how do you remove the bottom part of the lift support? It's the original Honda lift support, so no clips, and theres no room to get a wrench in there.

Thanks.

btw, did honda-tech take a dump? i lost all my posts and it says i'm a trial member now?

Edit: you have to remove the speaker mounts to remove the piece of plastic over the lower part of the supports.

incase anyone else needs it.
