Super Charger or Turbo for stock B18B... which would you prefer...why???
I need some good advice on adding significant power for my B18B. I was wondering which type of forced induction i should go with? hmmm... which brand is really reliable.... i guess i'll wait for some responses...
do a search for my replies to all posts... answers will all come up the same...
"go turbo" y? cuz i want one. haha... no i think the power potential is greater in a turbo setup, but i don't even wanna get into that again... do a search on the turbo vs supercharger its been covered to death... i think this might even get locked cuz its been covered so much... but oh wells.. you have my opinion.

the jr supercharger is what everyone's been telling me... i guess it's hella reliable afterall.... why not the centrifugal, Vortech?
turbo all da way!
cause it pulls so hard for my car and with a 6puck clutch it gives the "g-force" feel.
expensive? hell yeah. But just have enough money to build to bottom end at least (thicker head gasket, sleeve and block guard it from golden eagle, pistons, rods etc.). I spent around $5,000 to have my whole motor (bottom to top built with new oil/water/fuel pumps, arp head studs, bearings etc. etc. etc. basically new everything). Worth the money? In a long run, but I could've bought a 240 and get a SR20 swap cheaper and perhaps faster and safer too. Yeah, blowoff sounds meaner when I place the bov closer to the intercooler. Uh.. I'm already off the topic oops
oh and i have b20+b18 so I guess that makes it even more off lol

The B18B jrsc has a smaller blower, and you really don't make all that much more power over stock for the cost.
If you want something that has quick throttle response, just get a small turbo. I am putting together a turbo kit for Autocrossing that I expect to spool by 3k rpm.

definitely go with a turbo....by far the best way to add significant power. a sc is more reliable but doesn't do ****....just read up on turboing a car. if you go with a turbo go with revhard, not greddy....or go to http://www.sfp.net they are expensive but they know what the hell they are doing....that is where I am taking my car
yup, turbo pullllllls then "whoooosh"
top end would be so fast that you probably want to have the whole suspension including tires done before you bone out on the freeway else you'll just bounce off and get urself hurt.
suspension is more important than any other mod no?

don't get a vortech because they don't hit peak boost until i believe 6k, i would just go with a jrsc because theres less maintence, instant boost, good power potential ...and good torque
turbos are nothing but trouble in my opinion

does anyone here have a jrsc ? what u think of it?
All I have to say is whiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrr.........poooooshhhhhhhhhh
why would you not want a turbo?

Turbos make a lot of sense they make use of wasted heat and energy that normally goes out of the exhaust. Theoretically they are more efficient than SC.
However a factory turbo car has a more thought out cooling system, and the cylinder head and engine block has the necessary features for prolong exposures to the intense heat present in turbocharged engines - such as stainless exhaust valves, different valve seat material, proper cooling around the exhaust ports, ect......
I would prefer to have reliability over slight more hp.
But if your not building a daily driver then turbo it.
I would love to have a turbo but I live in Texas it's just way to hot here to depend on a turbo system.

Turbo its free HP while a supercharger will use 35-40% of the engines power to make the power. You will yield a higer HP and hit full boost faster becuase its not liner like a super.
before i got my R i had a 99 ls and was planning to do the same upgrade. i did all the research and supposedly turbo charging it is the best option. i was told that greddy turbo chargers are good however they only offer a small boost depending on what your budget is i would go with the f-max turbo system. the psi boost on f-max are a lot more than the greddy ones. the f-max system comes with everything needed for the upgrade. (waste gate, blow off valve, etc.) it's a little expensive but i figure if your doing an upgrade like that might as well go all out. good luck with the decision.

For the money a Greddy turbo will out do a JRSC and is just as reliable. You can blow your motor going N/A so once you start trying to make power reliability isn't @ the top of your list.
