Default how do you know that your rod bearings need to be replaced??

usually i hear when its too late (rod knock, spun bearing) how do you know before hand, without physically taking them out??

i rev the **** out of my motor all the time... is this a normal thing to replace??
when i got my motor i had the oil pump, water pump and timing belts replaced..... but i never gave the rod bearings any thought....

any suggestions???

and if i do replace them.. is there a different part number for jdm h22a. or can i just go to the dealer and pick up oem ones???

There isnt a way to check them with out taking apart the motor .... the way you check them ... is you buy the right size plastigauge ... looks like a thin line of playdo ... put it on the bearing ... then assemble the rods on the crank (if your checking the rods for example) and torque it to spec.... then dissassemble again ... and the plastigauge will be smashed flat ... and you measure its and compare it to the serviceable values in the Manual
