were there problems or recalls with 4th gen accords? i know stuff like rust on quarter b/c of the rubber...what else like machnically and etc. starter i know to or is it called alternator.

 

Distributor including igniter. Front seals. Auto Tranny rough shifting. That's pretty much all I've seen Honda admit to.

EDit- those weren't recalls, just "problems they took care of at no charge"

One annoying recurring problem is that the heater control **** keeps breaking, good to keep a spare one so you don't have to swap the fan control **** back and forth once the **** finally brakes. My alternator lasted 150,000 miles and only went bad due to the dealer tightening the belt too much and it wore out the bearings. I had to have the Clutch master cylinder replaced it was leaking. I had the distributor seize (replaced for free). and I think it was a leaky cam seal, it was leaking since I got the car with 36,000 miles on it and then around 220,000 the drip finally made it to the ground. I'm at 254,000 miles now and still running well.

as far as the rough shifting with the auto...i dont think theres any fix for that. distributor...honda fixed that for free??? when did that free fix end? i had to get that replaced last summer at around 68k miles, i only have 74k on my 92 accord...i wonder if honda would cover the bill if i can find a reciept. o well

 

it was probably 4 or 5 years ago, and I had 90K at the time. Sorry read that wrong I don't know if there was a time limit or just a mileage limit?

Yeah something definately needs to done about the auto tranny cause mine lets you know its shifting...its rough..very rough...oh well

 

I changed mine twice with Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF and it's a little smoother. Any improvement is better than stock though.

 

I'll definately have to change it and see if this works...maybe buy a Helms so I can see where everything is at unless someone on here can scan in the pages from the Helms for a 4th gen lx coupe accord with an auto tranny that would be much appreciated

 

wow thx....all these problems has already happened to me....the switch for the heat/ac, the distrubitor..also cap and rotor, the auto shifting is tough until replace oil, and etc. my car now has warm heat instead of hot and the temp goes down when ever i drive it for about 5min. this happened after i got my water pump, time belt, distributor, bal shaft, fixed. i also had to replace motor for the auto window on driver side b/c it went sideways...i think b/c it froozed over the winter and i was attempting to use it to clear off the snow. thx for the imput everyone.
