Default help w/oil leak

oil is leaking from someplace and it's around this area that indicated in the picture. Could this be a bad head gasket or cam seal. I don't have any white smoke coming out of exhaust though.

Looks kind of dirty up by the edge of your valve cover, it might be the valve cover gasket.

Sorry I couldn't get a better pic, so i borrowed one from bseries.net. and used my own arrows. they have some great how-to's as well, check'em out sometime. In this pic I have oil where the green arrow is and I don't have any oil where the red arrows are, and I don't see any oil leakage around the whole valve cover anyway. That's why I think there could be a bad seal where the cam gears are and it's spreading downward. Or like I said hopefully it's not a bad headgasket. You know, I have about 90k miles on my car and I used synthetic oil for the first time and have about 1000 miles into it.

If it's not from the valve cover, then it looks like it's from the headgasket.

its not really hard you just have to know torque specs, other than that ya you have to totally remove the head
